Literacy and Numeracy

Employ Raising Attainment (RA) teacher for 0.6FTE to train new support staff, work directly with pupils. (OCTF1, QI 1.4, 2.4, 3.1)

Employ additional support staff to provide targeted support. (OCTF1, QI 1.4, 2.4, 3.1)

Create new resources to support reading, e.g.flashcards, phonic cards and train staff in the use of Active Literacy. (OCTF1, QI 1.5)

Purchase Accelerated Reading Programme along with additional reading material and IT. (OCTF1, QI 2.2, 3.1, 3.2)

Purchase Big Writing Adventures to compliment Big Writing Programme. (OCTF1, QI 2.2, 3.1, 3.2)

Increase use of Laptops to enhance word processing skills. (OCTF1, QI 1.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Ensure all new staff member are trained in delivering Big Maths Programme. (OCTF1, QI 1.5, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.2)

Create and purchase new Numeracy Resources ensuring each class has a working numeracy wall and interactive games which are used to promote understanding. (OCTF1, QI 2.3, 3.1, 3.2)

Impact:

Children’s reading ages will improve. Their comprehension skills and ability to apply their skills across a range of curriculum areas are developed and will improve attainment throughout the curriculum. Children will be more motivated to read and write, which will in turn support families to facilitate further practice at home.

Children will have a firm grasp of numerical concepts through the use of concrete materials and clear, informed teaching strategies which are consistent and progressive throughout the school.

Health and Wellbeing

Ensure successful implementation of the PATHS pilot project throughout the school – providing cover to allow staff to visit other establishments who are already delivering this successfully. Purchase any additional resources required, e.g. additional puppets, printing of additional posters. (OCTF1, QI 3.1, 3.2)

Employ Jammin Fitness to lead whole school approach to Growth Mindset, including targeted parental sessions. (OCTF1 and 4, QI 3.1, 3.2)

Purchase Charanga Music programme to facilitate access to quality music lessons. (OCTF1, QI 3.1, 3.2)

Engage with Homestart by providing targeted counselling support to pupils and families. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Provide cover to allow L McKinnon and RA teacher time to further develop our Nurturing Approaches. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Provide Nurture sessions to targeted pupils. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Provide opportunities for targeted pupils to attend after school fitness/sports clubs.

Staffing

Employ RA teacher and support staff. (OCTF1 and 2, QI 1.5, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2)

Employ ASN Assistant to allow present staff to employ their own valued skills in providing Nurture and Support, delivering Fizzy and supporting whole school approach to reading. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Arrange for Supported Study payments for Teaching Staff who lead After-school Family Learning Sessions. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Family Learning

Purchase resources to support Family Learning Sessions, either led by parents, member of the local community or class teachers. Targeted families will be invited to attend these sessions. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Facilitate Pre-3 family groups to attend twice weekly play session where school and ELC staff meet informally with families, building trust and providing advice and support to more vulnerable families. (OCTF1 and 3, QI 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2)

Impact:

Children will be motivated and able to engage in learning by undertaking a whole school approach to Social and Emotional Learning. Stakeholders will work together to develop positive mindsets to encourage and motivate learners. A variety of high quality, creative, Health and Well Being opportunities will be offered resulting in improved resilience, perseverance, self belief and an awareness of positive destinations for the future. Children with SEBD difficulties will benefit from targeted support which will improve their ability to learn. Families will feel empowered to engage with their child’s learning journey through positive engagement with the school community.
