Capital Improvements Summary

Chapel

The showcase of our campus has received a complete renovation. The entire interior has been repainted, and all icons were cleaned and/or restored. A new imported marble floor was installed, and the aging pews were replaced with hand-carved Byzantine chairs.

The roof has been repaired. The entire Chapel has been re-pointed, replacing damaged brick & bluestone. The oil heating system was removed and replaced with a natural gas boiler with duel fuel usage capabilities. The narrow asphalt road and walkway was removed, and replaced with brick. The road has been widened from 9 feet to 14 feet. The flagstone patio and fountain have been repaired. The concrete wall was refaced with flagstone. The mahogany doors were removed and professionally refinished. A handicapped ramp was installed. Road and walkway lighting was replaced. A new irrigation system was installed to maintain this beautifully landscaped area.

Administration Building

The Veranda has been restored, and the entire area landscaped. A new dumpster shed was built by the Building and Grounds staff.

Dowd Hall

The fireplace mantel was repaired. The room was patched and the bathroom renovated.

First Floor

New glass doors were installed. An admissions lounge was created for our visitors. The hallway was repainted and the old carpeting was replaced. The bathroom was renovated. A conference room was added.

Second Floor

Wallpaper was removed and the entire area was painted. A new waiting area outside the Dean’s offices was created. On this floor, we removed damaged office carpeting, and refinished hardwood floors. Fifteen window air conditioning units were installed, and the annex carpeting was replaced.

Third Floor

Eighteen new windows were installed.

Basement

Our Buildings and Grounds staff built a new mailroom. New offices were created for both the press and bookstore managers. The hallway was renovated, and a new floor was installed. Books previously stored in the hallway were moved to a more suitable storage location.

Office Reorganization

Offices were reorganized, and related offices grouped together to ensure maximum productivity. Faculty duplicate offices were reassigned to others in need of office space.

Peter J. Condakes Cafeteria

New glass entry doors were installed. We opened an egress from dorm to cafeteria. A new meal plan program was implemented. A new kitchen floor was installed. New equipment was purchased including a steam table; two fry units, convection oven, two freezers and salad bar. Service contracts were acquired for all new and existing equipment

Playground

A new playground was created for the children of our married students. All new equipment was installed, and a BBQ area for all students and families was built.

Halki and Dendrinos Villages

Decks were replaced and new sliding glass doors were installed. Roofs were repaired, and exterior lighting installed. Sump pumps were installed to address water issues. New hot water heaters, fan motors, and new laundry equipment were installed.

Polemanokos Dormitory

Wireless Internet is now available in the dormitory. New smoke and heat detectors are installed. The 40+ year-old boiler system failed and has been replaced. State of the art laundry equipment has been installed, along with new vending machines. We have installed new water fountains, bathroom faucets and mirrors, shower stalls, and bathroom floors. Bathroom ceilings and ceramic tiles were repaired.

All dorm rooms and common areas were repainted. The student lounge has been completely renovated, complete with all new furniture and fixtures. A kitchenette was built for the convenience of our students. The entrance walkway railings were replaced. We are in the process of installing roof-mounted exhaust fans for all six bathrooms in the dormitory.

Classroom Building

Another new “smart” classroom has been created. New furniture and fixtures were purchased, and lighting was replaced.

Roadways/Parking

Most of our campus roadways have been repaved. All spaces are color-coded and parking stickers assigned accordingly. Spaces have been identified for handicapped, visitors, students, staff and faculty. Faculty and student parking spaces have been increased.

Directional signage has been provided, and speed bumps installed. Security lighting was installed for all roadways & buildings.

Pappas Gymnasium

A new state-of-the-art fitness center, including all new equipment, lighting, flooring, air conditioning and televisions has been created. New security doors have been installed to eliminate future additional break-ins. The gymnasium floor has been repaired and refinished. A French drain was installed at the field behind gym.
