MINUTES OF THE APRIL 17, 2017 MEETING

Roger Nelson, Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

MEMBER’S PRESENT: Roger Nelson, Chairman, Cindy Cooper, Douglas Glazier, Rosemary Hogan-Cunningham, Vice-Chairman, Peter Lambert, and Connie Nelson.

ALSO PRESENT: Ann Marie Claffey, Director.

ABSENT: Sue Cannon, Barbara Sullivan, and John Sullivan, Municipal Agent.

PUBLIC: None.

PUBLIC INPUT: None.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Upon a motion by Peter Lambert, and seconded by Rosemary Hogan-Cunningham, the March 20, 2017 minutes were approved with the following correction. Under Director’s Report, the Senior Club will hold their last meeting the month of April.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the Treasurers Report/Budget and CONA Fund Report provided by the Finance Department as of March 31, 2017. Discussion followed on account financial information.

BUS COORDINATOR’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the March 2017 report. Discussion on passes, mileage, shuttle service, ridership, trips, drivers, and driver hours.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Ann Marie Claffey presented the Directors Report.

Ø  Programs and Upcoming events. Programs include: AARP Safe Drive Class (4/3), Volunteer Luncheon, Healing through Hospice (4/20), Ask the Nurse (1st & 3rd Thursday’s), Center bus trip-Savers & Joey Garlics (4/26), Family Bingo (4/28), Feature Corner (in the hallway), Quatro De Mayo (5/4), Mother Day Victoria Tea (5/18). Locks Fitness Center had approximately 434 visits in March.

Ø  Charter Trips include: Daffodil Days (4/20), West Point Dress Parade (4/29), Myrtle Beach, SC (4/30-5/6), Mystery Trip (5/8), Glenn Miller Orchestra (5/15), Bar Harbor Maine (5/31), CT Shore Line Trolley & Chowder Pot (6/5), Tall Ships Cruise Boston Harbor & Salem Cross Inn (6/19), Niagara Falls & Finger Lakes (6/21-6/23), Tower Hill Botanical Garden & Old Mill (6/28), Nova Scotia & Pei (6/30), A Taste of Cape Cod (7/13), All You Can Eat Lobster & Comedy Show (7/13), Who Loves You Frankie Vallie Show (8/17), Journey to the White Mountains (9/5), Radio City NYC (TBA), Ray of Elvis Show (9/19), Christmas Memories Dean Martin Show (12/4). Monthly Casino trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan.

Ø  The Senior Club will hold their last catered meal at the end of this month.

Ø  Waiting on the State Budget.

Ø  Discussion of extending hours of fitness enter.

Ø  Discussion of decline in rentals and less need for monitors.

Ø  State funding has come through for Meals on Wheels.

Ø  Seniors have been calling for the AARP tax service which ended.

COMMITTEE REPORT AND ACTIONS:

a)  Transportation Committee. N/A.

MUNICIPAL AGENT REPORT: Roger Nelson reported on John Sullivan’s report for the May SCAN. There will be information on sometimes it pays to be a nurse. A Nationwide firm will work with nurses on setting up a portfolio. The tip of the month is information on a 2016 study on how it is not healthy to stay still. The study involved students and found it is healthier to move around, and not stay still.

OLD BUSINESS:

a)  Budget FY 2017-2018. Nothing to add.

NEW BUSINESS:

N/A.

CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS:

·  May 15, 2017 is our next CONA meeting.

·  Town Meeting tomorrow to approve funds for purchase of new bus.

·  Waiting to hear of new Democrat member for CONA.

·  Discussion of town budget.
