DiasporaLink, a UK based on-line remittance service
In cooperation with VISA Europe and Swedbank
for Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Jamaica
DiasporaLink, formed in Jönköping University Science Park, Nov. 2007, in cooperation with Swedbank and VISA Europe, is providing a self-operated and internet-based money transfer service. This new service enables Visa cardholders to transfer money from one Visa card to another by connecting to the world-wide VISA Money Transfer via the DiasporaLink secure web-site.
- DiasporaLink, is an innovative web based remittance service, cost-effective and convenient and with the cooperation of Diaspora associations, transfer rates will remain low and aims to build an investment fund for cross-border small enterprises.
- VISA Europe is the leading European payment system, owned and governed by its 4,600 European member banks.
- Swedbank is the leading bank in Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with 17 000 employees serving 9 million private and 475 000 corporate customers
- RAFFA, aims to promote community development and reduce poverty by encouraging enter\and increased productivity amongst individuals. RAFFA Business & Enterprise Services provides support for micro and small enterprise development.
- Jönköping University in Sweden has a research program on diaspora in Sweden and is working internationally on “Diaspora as wealth creators” with Diaspora, International Aid, Trade and Development and universities. They identified key areas , in particular remittances, related to the development of diaspora's untapped potentials.
