The Historic Hotel Pere Marquette was chosen because of its central downtown location which is within walking distance of the where the LST 325 will be docked. Elegance abounds when you step inside where guests feel as if they have stepped back in time when all occasions were handled with class and sophistication. The hotel provides shuttle service to the Peoria airport, and the shuttle will be available to transport our guests to the ship and back. Complimentary parking is provided and a complimentary full breakfast buffet is served daily for the hotel guests – all for the great price of $89.00/night plus taxes. There is an on-site fitness center and hi speed internet in all guestrooms. Room service is available from 6am-10pm daily with a restaurant on site. We will have hospitality rooms with snacks and beverages for you during your stay. Times will be posted.
Two major hospitals are within blocks from the hotel. Restaurants are located in close proximity to the Pere Marquette if you choose. Par-A-Dice Casino is located in East Peoria just across the river if you care to try your hand at casino action. Shopping is abundant – just ask details at the desk or check the map provided.
The cruise this year is offered on Wednesday the 7th when the ship is underway from Henry to Peoria. You must sign up (first come, first served) for this as space is limited due to Coast Guard regulations. Buses will leave Pere Marquette at 8:00am to go to Henry. The “Captain’s Reception” will be held on the ship Thursday evening beginning at 5:30pm. This is free to all Reunion attendees (with paid registration) as is the Memorial Service aboard the LST on Saturday @ 9:00am. Join us for an elegant dinner in the beautiful Cotillion Room on Friday evening – cocktails at 5:30pm (cash bar) with dinner at 6:30pm. The dinner will be filet and chicken with salad and dessert. A Vegan meal is also offered – just let them know on your registration sheet if you require vegetarian. Of course you are invited to come and tour the ship whenever it is open. The ship hours will be 9am-5pm September 8-12.
Peoria is rich in history which you can experience if you sign up for one of the tours offered with a trolley ride and narration. Restaurants are available for lunch after the tour if desired. (These are filled!!) Caterpillar’s worldwide headquarters are located in Peoria and we are pleased to offer a tour of one of the plants where they do final assembly on mid-size to large track-type tractors. There is no charge but you must sign up. If you have special needs, please advise when you register. Rules for CAT Tour - All visitors must wear long pants (no shorts), complete foot covering (no sandals or tennis shoes.) No finger rings, no sunglasses, no cell phones, and no bags (or purses) of any kind allowed in the plant. No children under age 12. Name badges and safety glasses will be provided.
