RIIWHS302D IMPLEMENT TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course develops a participant’s skills and knowledge required to implement a traffic management plan in Civil Construction.This unit and training material is aimed at persons required to read, interpret, and implement traffic management plans and install/remove signs and devices in accordance with procedures set out in Transport and Main Roads Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Part 3 in Queensland. This course is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles.

COURSE DURATION

Formal Training – one (1) day (minimum 8 nominal hours)

Day 1-Theory Trainingand Assessment

Informal Training

Simulated practical or on-the-job component and practical assessment. Students must complete a minimum of two simulated class set-ups on the same day as the practical assessment.

Note: The student must complete a minimum of three site setups to be deemed ready for assessment by their supervisor prior to assessment being scheduled.

The expected completion time for this competency is three months however AATS’s may choose to minimise this time frame. A further one month may be granted at the discretion of the AATS should extenuating circumstances prevail. Documented proof MUST be provided as to the reason for requesting this additional extension. There is no guarantee that this extension will be granted and must be decided on a case by case basis.

RESOURCES REQUIRED

Student are required to wear appropriate clothing including high visibility long sleeve shirt, long pants, work boots, and hard hat during training.Machinery and equipment is supplied when training at our facility.All written material and stationary is supplied for the course.Students must provide their own food. Tea and coffee supplied by AATS.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

AATS policy requires students to be a minimum of 18 years of age prior to enrolling and attending this course due to WHS considerations and licensing requirements.

PRE-REQUISITES

There are no pre-requisite requirements for the unit of competency RIIWHS302D. Students will be required to produce their general construction induction card prior to commencing the practical component of the course. You will also be required to undertake a specific site induction related to your on-the-job training.

RPL/RCC

RPL is available for the on the job component for participants who have gained competence through paid/unpaid work, study, and substantial work and life experience to satisfy the evidence requirements for the on the job component of the unit.

NOTE: The off the job component requires candidates to demonstrate competence of this unit by implementing three traffic guidance schemes on live roadwork job sites.

OUTCOME /LICENSING

Upon successful completion of both course components, students will be issued with a statement of attainment and a wallet-sized card. This certification expires three years from the date of completion. To continue working on Queensland roads, a refresher course is required before the date of expiry.
