*Membership fees are tentatively set for 2017/2018. Membership fees may be changed accordingly to the

rental fees charged by the City and the School Boards.

E-mail application is not accepted. Date of receipt of application form and membership fee payment is the postal marked date and time, or the date on which application form and membership fee payment are given to an executive member.

Prior to May 31, 2017, only applications for membership renewal from 2016/2017 members are to be received.

After July 01, 2017, applications from new applicants, including previous 2016/2017 members, are to be received.

Application from new applicant received prior to July 1, 2017 will be considered as received on July 07, 2017.

The Club will notify the applicant by email the acceptance by the Club of the applicant’s membership application.

In consideration of the Kanata Badminton Club accepting my application as a participant in the mentioned club, I hereby agree to abide by the rules and regulations, policies and procedures of the Kanata Badminton Club. I further agree that the Kanata Badminton Club, its executive members or volunteers will not be held responsible for any loss, damages or injury incurred during said participation. Unacceptable behavior and misconduct exhibited in the facilities for badminton activities may be causes for expulsion of your membership.

The information collected on this form may be required to be provided to third parties. Member has the right to withdraw at any time the consent of providing the information to any third parties.

Junior members will be required to wear protective eyewear equipment.

Kanata Badminton Club Ranking Guidelines

BeginnerLevel (green dot)

Descriptive with Core Measurable Competencies

1.  perform a basic serve with regularity

a.  serves in the doubles box regularly (60% success rate)

2.  ability to clear half-court with regularity

a.  can hit over the net regularly

3.  basic knowledge of the game

a.  able to keep score

IntermediateLevel (yellow dot)

Descriptive with Core Measurable Competencies

1.  able to serve consistently (80% success rate)

a.  able to execute a low doubles style serve regularly

2.  basic knowledge and execution of a variety of strokes

a.  can regularly perform a basic Drive, Drop, Lift, Smash, and a 2/3 court forehand Clear

3.  basic grasp of strategies and tactics

a.  basic execution of side to side and front/back court positioning

Advanced Level (red dot)

Descriptive with Core Measurable Competencies

1.  serve consistently, with directional variety, and sometimes with deception

a.  serve short to the T consistently, and able to go deep regularly

2.  hit forehand, and backhand clearing shots

a.  consistently clears forehand full court, and regularly clears with backhand 2/3 court

3.  strong knowledge and execution of a variety of strokes

a.  consistently performs Drives, Drops, Smashes, and defensive Lifts

4.  strong grasp of strategies/tactics and court coverage by displaying:

a.  Good rotation between defensive sides & attacking front/back positioning

b.  Forehand clearing stroke on the backhand side (around the head shots)

c.  Strong court coverage and footwork technique (including the Chasse)

d.  Good racquet control (including regularly facing the racquet towards the anticipated bird trajectories, and knowing who-gets-what shot selections)
