FROM THE PRESIDENT
MNWT Fall State concluded with brunch and Inspirational Speaker and Joy Re-fueler, Dawn Kaiser, who encourages individuals to unleash the joy in their journeys.
Truth, I have never been one to hop out of bed with a big smile and here I come attitude. I have always needed to warm up, or so I thought. I seemed a little resistant to her joy so early that morning. Now that I've had a week to think more about it I'm going to give this a shot! She said basically, that what you think at night when you go to bed is what you will feel or think in the morning. So if you only have a few hours to sleep, tell yourself you will wake up refreshed and happy, instead of focusing on not enough sleep. Set your daily intention.
Dawn spoke of the 7D's to a Transformational Morning: Wake Up Happy & Jumpstart Your Success
- Delight your soul
- Drink water to refuel yourself
- Declare your affirmations and intentions
- Dream and be
- Develop yourself
- Doodle your thoughts
- Dance and move

A FEW TIDBITS OF INFORMATION SHARED AT OUR LAST HAWT MEETING
Facts:
- About 1 in 8 U.S. womenwill develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
- For women in the United States, breast cancer death rates are higher than death rates for any other type of cancer, besides lung cancer.
- As of March 2017, there were about 3.1 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This figure includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.
- A woman’s risk of breast cancer nearly doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Symptoms and Diagnosis
- Breast cancer symptoms vary widely from lumps to swelling to skin changes, and many breast cancers have no obvious symptoms at all. Symptoms that are similar to those of breast cancer may be the result of non-cancerous conditions like infection or a cyst.
- Annual mammogram and physical exam by a doctor. The earlier breast cancer is found and diagnosed, the better your chances of beating it.
- Try to get in the habit of doing a breast self-examination once a month to familiarize yourself with how your breasts normally look and feel. Examine yourself several days after your period ends, when your breasts are least likely to be swollen and tender.
SELF-DEFENSE CLASS SPONSORED BY HAWT
“Thank You” to Sheriff Scott Rehmann for instructing our September 28thSelf-Defense class.
______
- Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten.
- Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.
- Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women—more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
- Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.
- Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.
- Each day, in the U.S., more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.
- Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.
- Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.
- Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.
- The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.
- Men who as children witnessed their parents’ domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

Wonderful Crockpot Applesauce Recipe From: Robin Klopp
This works great in my 6 quart crockpot
18 cups sliced apples 3/4 cup sugar - you may need more if your apples are very tart 2 tsp cinnamon – I use a Tbsp 1 1/2 cups water 1 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
Mix apples with cinnamon and sugar and put into the crock pot. Pour water and lemon juice over the apples. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. I freeze mine in quart bags. I take out a bag, let it thaw a bit then cut a hole in the bag and squeeze the applesauce into a bowl. We sometimes eat it with a little granola, tastes like apple crisp with a lot less guilt!
