VOTE COMMUNITY ACTION

The Community Action Party have announced their prospective candidates for the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections. The seats to be contested are Wigan, Makerfield, Leigh and Warrington North. The Community Action Party will bring Honesty and Integrity to British Politics and will campaign on local grass roots issues, as well as on broader issues that affect local people. The Community Action Party will represent local people both locally and nationally instead of the National Parties dictating to local people.

The prospective Parliamentary candidates are:

Leigh Constituency / Ian Franzen
Makerfield Constituency / Peter Franzen
Wigan Constituency / Kevin Williams
Warrington North Constituency / Mike Hughes

VOTE FOR ZERO TOLERANCE OF CRIME AND DISORDER

  • Law and order must be established on the streets by better and more effective policing, manned police stations and police on the beat.
  • We want Zero Tolerance of drug dealers, vandals, arsonists, racists, thugs and thieves and call for their prosecution.
  • Zero Tolerance and a Borough wide ban of alcohol on the streets continues to be a cornerstone of our policy to combat crime, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

VOTE FOR REAL DEMOCRACY

  • Recent draconian legislation now allows the imprisonment of our citizens without trial. We want the restoration of our civil liberties and Habeas Corpus, the right to a fair trial that has existed since the Magna Carta was granted in 1215.
  • We are opposed to the introduction of “Identity Cards” that would further infringe and undermine our civil liberties.
  • The British Government supported the USA led invasion of Iraq that was promoted on the basis of lies and alleged weapons of mass destruction that have still not been found. The war is contrary to Security Council Resolution 1441 and has been declared illegal by the Secretary General of the United Nations. We call for a full and open public inquiry into the documentation and advice upon which the invasion and war is based and for those responsible to be held to account.
  • We continue to expose and oppose the New Labour policies of infiltrating community groups, manipulation of the press, the exploitation of public resources for political purposes and of postal vote ballot rigging.

VOTE FOR adequate STATE pensions for all

  • State pensions linked to the national average wage must be provided for all citizens of retirement age.

VOTE FOR AN EFFICIENT NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE

  • Our health service is being privatised by stealth. We want to reverse this trend, to eliminate bureaucracy from the health service and to return to traditional values.
  • We propose the abolition of prescription charges and the provision of a health service free of charge to all at the point of delivery.

VOTE FOR EDUCATION ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL

  • Education at every level should be available to all regardless of their means.
  • We are opposed to tuition fees being charged to students or their parents and call for the re-introduction of student grants linked to a commitment by students to work in this country for an agreed minimum period.
  • The allocation of places at local schools must take account of the wishes of local people and of parental and student choice.
  • School facilities should be made available outside of normal school hours, giving young people and the community at large a place to meet, access to facilities and a sense of ownership.

VOTE FOR YOUTH & COMMUNITY FACILITIES

  • The present lack of facilities is failing our young people, is a contributory cause of vandalism and crime and must be addressed as a matter of priority.

VOTE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

  • The conservation and improvement of the natural and built environment and the protection of wildlife and its habitat continues to be one of our priorities.
  • Due to Government policies our heritage, green field sites, schools and playing fields are under increasing threat and we will continue to oppose all inappropriate developments.
  • We will campaign for reduced environmental pollution by industry.
  • We want positive measures to promote waste re-cycling and to prevent the proliferation of landfill sites.

VOTE FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT

  • We want a fully integrated transport infrastructure, publicly controlled and maintained, effectively managed, affordable for all and fully accountable to the public.
  • The promotion of the use of public transport such as rail, buses and trams to reduce the amount of road traffic congestion, pollution and fuel usage is one of our priorities.
  • Heavy freight must be taken off the roads and put onto the railways.

VOTE FOR PUBLIC SERVICES & COMMUNITY ASSETS

  • We are for a halt to the stripping of community assets by the sell-off of land, buildings and resources and against cuts in public services.
  • We are opposed to any reduction in the number of firefighters and to any cuts in the fire service.

VOTE FOR URBAN REGENERATION

  • After years of neglect priority must be focused on the regeneration of our existing town centres and shopping areas and a return to Civic Pride and a sense of Community.

VOTE FOR THE ONLY THE ALTERNATIVE HERE

  • Just three years old and with eighteen elected Councillors the Community Action Party has demonstrated itself to a dynamic and effective force.
  • The Community Action Party has already proven that it can defeat Labour in their former traditional safe areas where all other parties have failed.
  • To abstain or vote for any other party would only keep Labour in power.
  • We want real democracy and fair treatment for all.
