Teaching in the undergraduate program, advising undergraduate majors, designing new courses to aid in the accreditation process for CAAHEP, undergraduate research.

Associate Professor, Dept of Physical Education & Exercise Studies (PEES)

Building Coordinator of the Chandler Center

Director, Human Performance Laboratory

Director, Undergraduate Internship Program

Lander University, Greenwood, SC. July 2009-Aug 2011

In addition to teaching in the undergraduate program, I served as Director of the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL). I recently updated the department home page to contain information regarding the HPL and the various clinical services that would be available. The link was g ready to go live in fall 2011. I also served as Director of the undergraduate Internship program. During my tenure I have been able to secure over 50 internship sites. Most are local to the Greenwood area, but I secured some in other locales across the state, as well as some out of state. I also coordinated the usage and maintenance of the Chandler Center, in which the PEES Department is housed. With over 300 majors in the PEES Department, I typically advised 45-55 students/year majoring in science.

Associate Professor Chair, Dept of Physical Education & Exercise Studies (PEES)

Building Coordinator of the Chandler Center

Director, Human Performance Laboratory

Director, Undergraduate Internship Program

Lander University, Greenwood, SC. May 2007-July 2009

Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Movement Sciences

Director, Graduate Program in Clinical Exercise Physiology

University of Illinois-Chicago, Chicago, IL. 2003- 2007

I served as Director of the Human Performance Laboratory and the Undergraduate Exercise Physiology Laboratory. One of my tasks was to develop the department’s new Exercise and Fitness undergraduate concentration. I also developed and continuously maintained the approved directory of internship sites for undergraduate and graduate student placements. I also served as Coordinator of the graduate program in Clinical Exercise Physiology. I taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in the department.

Associate Professor, Department of Physical Education, Sport & Exercise

Coordinator, Graduate Program, Adult Physical Fitness/Cardiopulmonary Rehab

Ball State University, Muncie, IN. 2000-2003

I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science. I also served as Coordinator of the graduate program for Adult Physical Fitness/Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. I also served as Director of the Adult Physical Fitness Laboratory and Center. The Fitness Center served approximately 225 members from the University and Muncie community. I supervised 12 graduate assistants, an Assistant and Associate Coordinator, and an Administrative Coordinator and managed a budget in excess of $200,000.

Associate Professor, Dept of Exercise Science, Physical Education & Sport Mgmt

Coordinator, Undergraduate and Graduate Internship Program

Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, PA. 1998-2000

I served as Director of the Exercise Physiology Laboratory and Coordinator of the graduate and undergraduate Internship program. I also developed and secured University approval of the Department’s new Master of Science degree in Exercise and Wellness Promotion. I served as director of the program during my tenure at SRU. After SRU began a DPT program, I taught an elective graduate course in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation for the DPT students.

Assistant Professor, Dept of Exercise Science, Physical Education & Sport Mgmt

Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, PA. 1995-1998

Part-Time Instructor, Department of Biology

Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, MD. 1994-1995

Taught Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab to nursing majors.

Research Associate (Post Doctorate), Biological Resources Engineering Department

University of Maryland, College Park, MD. 1991-1995

Conducted research projects for the Department of the Army/Biological Resources Engineering Department at University of Maryland involving psychological and physiological factors associated with respirator mask wear and performance.

Graduate Assistant, Department of Kinesiology

University of Maryland, College Park, MD. 1989-1991

Supervisor, In-patient and Out-patient Cardiac Rehabilitation

St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Ctr, Paterson, New Jersey. 1986-1989

This remains the largest hospital and medical center in the state of New Jersey. The Cardiology Department performed the greatest number of open heart surgeries, angioplasties and thallium/cardiolite stress tests statewide. The Out Patient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program maintained about 30 outpatients per month. The Inpatient program varied day to day depending on the length of stay of each patient, but our visits averaged between 15-30 patients per day. I supervised the rotation of three registered nurses through the different phases of our cardiac rehabilitation program. I also supervised students fulfilling internships in cardiac rehabilitation from area colleges and universities.

Graduate Assistant, Department of Physical Education

University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS. 1982-1983

Taught undergraduate exercise physiology laboratories. Administered maximal stress tests to low-risk adults in the community for entrance into the University Fitness Center and assisted physician with weekly stress testing of high-risk adults.
