TO HEADLINE 7th ANNUAL BLUES UNDER THE BRIDGE

Four free pre-festival concerts brings nearly a week of blues to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – June 18, 2013 – Blues Under the Bridge, an annual KRCC presentation that is now in its seventh year, will be held from 1 to 11:45 p.m., Saturday, July 20 under the Colorado Avenue Bridge, 218 W. Colorado Ave. In addition to the day-long festival, this year features four free pre-festival shows, bringing nearly a full week of blues to downtown Colorado Springs.

Headlining the 2013 Blues Under the Bridge are Watermelon Slim and the Workers, John Hammond, the Slide Brothers, with additional performances by Blues Caravan, DB Rielly and the Just Us League. Tickets range from $25 for KRCC members and students to $91.50 for VIP admission; more ticket information is below.

Gates open at 1 p.m., and the Saturday, July 20 schedule is as follows:
2-3 p.m., Just us League
3:20-4:35 p.m., DB Rielly
4:55-6:25 p.m., Slide Brothers
6:45-8:15 p.m., Blues Caravan
8:35-10:05 p.m., John Hammond
10:25-11:45 p.m., Watermelon Slim

Tickets are $25 for KRCC members and students with an ID if purchased at KRCC, 912 N. Tejon St. General public tickets are $35 in advance, available at KRCC, Independent Records and Video, Bluesunderthebridge.com and and $40 the day of the show. VIP admission is available for $91.50 (KRCC’s call letters are 91.5 FM); tickets include VIP seating, three Whole Foods’ tapas tickets, two beer tickets, a Blues Under the Bridge T-shirt and unlimited water.

Festival-goers at Blues Under the Bridge are encouraged to:

  • Bring a folding chair to sit on under the bridge (blankets work as well, but the viewing area is paved, so sitting on the ground might be uncomfortable)
  • Bring cash for food and drink; vendors are unlikely to have credit card capability
  • Bring children, ages 10 and under free
  • Park next to the festival area. Parking will be available by exiting off the Colorado Avenue Bridge on the Conejos Street off ramp – parking available for $10 per car
  • Free parking will be available in the Antler’s parking garage

Three pre-festival shows will be held at Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, 21 S. Tejon St., and a fourth will be held at the Mining Exchange, 8 S. Nevada Ave. The pre-festival schedule is as follows:
