Creativity and Critical Thinking Module

Individual Contribution Sheet

Complete the sheet below, commenting on your contribution to your group project on EACH of the following areas. Ensure that there is evidence on your group pages in Wikispaces to support each. (Max 1000 words in total)

  • Regular meeting attendance

We had face to face time during class sessions and linked in via email and also kept in touch through texts. We have also been using chat live in Gmail and the Wikispace.

  • Equity of contribution

I was the only MSc in our group and the other students were MA’s so we had to share contact details and inform the group of our areas of expertise and take up the relevant tasks in hand and build on our strengths. Our group discussion in face to face time were during class, we all agreed on what parts of the group work could be divided up and who could take on the different elements of the work load, discussed previous tasks and work carried out.

We also utilised the time on the tea breaks to link in with each other and use the computer room for additional research. We tried to use the Wikispace for correspondence, but found that, when different people where putting up content and not familiar with the Wikispace they were over riding other peoples work by mistake. Plan of correspondence was via email so that we could keep track of our correspondence and work.

As a group we have chosen creative thinking on the subject matter of digital literacy using a broad range of technologies such as Gaming, Avatars, Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, Kindle, Nook etc. We came up with these ideas through brain storming and created a digital literacy Wordle to demonstrate our mind mapping and thinking process as a group. Our project has taken many different paths and has settled with Digital literacy. I volunteered to keep the Wikispace up dated and all the work would be sent to me via email from the other students.

We have all taken a different role as part of the group project.Marie and Paul took on the task of doing the research. Michael took on the task of creating additional contributions towards the research and infographic. I took on the task of doing the Wikispace. My part of task was to tidy up the Wikispace and re arrange it and present the project in a structured format style using fonts, text, images etc. I have also been up loading the other group members work to help assist in the project. I have also up loaded the infographic up on to Pinterest to assist Paul as he was under pressure due to work commitments. I noticed that while updating the Wikispace it was really important to constantly keep saving the changes as I was working on the group Wikispace. As it didn’t always save depending on the internet connection and the amount of work being up loaded.

  • Evidence of co-operative behaviour:

We have all worked very hard on the different elements of the project and have kept in touch at all the different stages of the project development. On week three Jen spoke to the class about making sure that our project was unique and from our own perspective and to incorporate our own prior learning into the group project.

  • Appropriate time and task management

All of the group tasks that I had taken on board have all been complete and delivered on time and are available on the Wikispace called Digital Literacy for Student Teachers.Paul hasproduced the infographic, and Marie and Paul both did the additional research, while Michael was reading the theory elements and my role was to tidy up the learning platform on Wikispace and give it a structured format. We have all been working on the additional tasks from home due to time con-strengths and have managed to complete the project against all the different elements and hectic work schedules.

  • Application of creative and critical problem solving

The creative process has worked well in our group in relation to the Digital Media and have now produced a standalone infographic. Over the last number of weeks we have been corresponding through emails and keeping the group up to date with our progression. We could see the project starting to take shape and the screen shot of the up to date infographic was a significant turning point in the project.

  • Use of a range of working methods

Email correspondence worked best. The Wikispace was being use as an online platform to host the group project. Using blended methods and skills between the MA’s & MSc has allowed us all to overlap all of skills and combine them together.

  • Appropriate level of engagement with task

While creating the tasks and resources for the module I found myself thinking about how I can incorporate them into my own teaching methods and reuse the materials. As part of my delivery of new module’s called Digital Media 4N1858, Web Design 4N1122 and Information Technology 4N1125. Researching digital media and digital literacy over lapped and searching for Podcats, eBooks and other resources such as flipping books and Wikispace can be use as part of the learning outcomes of both Digital Media and Information Technology. I also found the online resource of Sccop.it very helpful as a newsletter of posting to keep up to date with the current trends in Digital literacy.

  • Evidence of capacity to listen

At different stages of the project the communication has broken down due to hectic work schedules and other assignments been due in. At all times the correspondence went through via email and tried to keep track of it as much as possible.

  • Responsiveness to feedback/criticism

I was grateful to receive the peer to peer feedback from all the different hats using the Edward De Bono Theory and have tried to take that on board.
