CONFIRMATION

Next Sunday 22nd January we celebrate the conferring of the Sacrament of Confirmation on the young people of our parish during the 11.30am Mass.

The visiting prelate is Bishop Farquhar and we welcome him to St. Colmcille’s. This is an occasion of great joy for the whole parish. It is a time for all of us to renew our commitment to our Christian calling. Please remember especially in your prayers the 55 young people who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

We pray that the Holy Spirit will come into the lives of all who are asking to be confirmed in their faith.

REFRESHMENTS AFTER MASS

The monthly parish, no agenda, refreshments after Mass, will be hosted this Sunday 15thJanuary after the Sunday morning Masses, in the Parochial Hall. Everyone is welcome to come along for a catch up with friends and family.

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF THE BIBLE

Open the door, to a new found understanding of God’s word, with some discussion, based on a DVD presentation.

4 CORNERS FESTIVAL

The 4 Corners Festival was conceived by a group of Christians who wish to promote unity and reconciliation in the midst of our city’s – and our islands’ – troubled past. The idea for the festival grew out of conversations between Fr Martin Magill, parish priest atSacred Heart Parish in north Belfast, and Rev Steve Stockman of Fitzroy Presbyterian Church in south Belfast. One of this year’s Festival events will be a play, ‘In Search of a Bench’, on Saturday 4th February at 8.00pm, in St Colmcille’s Parochial Hall. Admission Free.

CHRISTIAN UNITY WEEK

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is traditionally observed from the 18th to the 25th January – the octave of St. Peter and St. Paul.

UNITED SERVICE AT STORMONT PRESBYTERIAN

There will an interdemoninational service at Stormont Presbyterian Church this Sunday 15th January at 7.00pm, for the week of prayer for Christian Unity. Parishioners are encouraged to attend.

CHRISTIAN UNITY SERVICE

A United Service to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is to be held at 7.00pm on this Tuesday 17thJanuary in St Peter’s Cathedral.

The preacher at the Service will be TheRt Rev John McDowell, Anglican Bishop of Clogher.We would encourage parishioners to attend.

WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

We celebrate the 103rd World Day of Migrants and Refugees on this Sunday 15th January. It is important we remember and pray for the tens of thousands of children who migrate alone, unaccompanied, to escape poverty and violence. Pope Francis said that children are the most vulnerable and hardest hit among the world’s migrants and require special protection.
