What is a choice board? It is an assignment that gives students a choice of activities to complete.
Why use a choice board? Choice boards are used to provide students a way to express their understanding using their favorite learning style. Not all students are writers, some prefer to build models, create videos, etc.
The choice board below presents nine options. Students must complete a minimum of three activities and must earn between 85 105 points. The manner in which the points are earned is the student’s choice. Maximum possible point values are given. Creative, well-written, professional looking work is expected if full credit is to be awarded.Exclusions are found beneath the choice board.
Create a YouTube video of iMovie to teach all of the following: turgor in plant cells, diffusion, and active transport across cell membranes.40 points / Use BookBuilder to write and illustrate a book. Hyperlink terms in the glossary that can instruct 4th grade students about cells, organelles, and their jobs.
40 points / Create a 3-d Cell mobile.It must be suspended, and must include 3D models of all organelles, scaled to size, and will be presented via iMovie or an oral presentation.

Create a peek-a-boo poster comparing plant and animal cells. Flip up the organelles to reveal typed explanations of organelle functions.
25 points / Write a narrative based on the cell city analogy worksheet. You will answer questions on the worksheet, write, and illustrate your analogy narrative.
15 points / Bake, frost, and decorate a 3D animal cell cake. Use this to assist you. Bring plates and plastic forks to feed your class. Clean up after your class!

Create a jigsaw puzzle of a plant animal cell from your own drawing. Attach it to foam core board, and cut into pieces. All organelles must be present, & correctly sized.
15 points / Create a board game to assist the players to learn the organelles, their functions, and the way they work together. Storable, colorful, instructive, and fun.
30 points / Create a bi-fold brochure, or commercial promoting the three games found here. You must tell what the student will learn, how the game works, and identify +/-. Use all 6 panels!
