· On Thursday Kenny is going through to Glasgow to a meeting about the Commonwealth Games and how it will work with the school curriculum. There will be a briefing in August of how schools can get involved. Dundee will be linked to Belize and South Africa so will be looking to create sport and dance links to these countries.
· Currently undergoing financial meetings about creating a calendar of year round CPD and training opportunities – pulling together the current priorities and offers. These will be a series of opportunities that follow on from each other to get a more in-depth and developed experience.
· “Confessions of Isobel Gowdie” was a success and there are currently talks about doing a similar performance next year of “The Firebird”.
· Aspire Dundee – a project that will take place initially in 9 primary schools in areas of deprivation for 10 weeks, 2 schools will be focusing on dance, 3 on theatre (working with Dundee Rep) & 4 focusing on music. There will be opportunities in the future for cross art form workings. This project will then move out into the community to local hubs.
Scottish Dance Theatre
· Currently on tour performing, “Innocence”, “What on Earth!?”, “Second Coming” and “Winter Again” finishing on 29th May in Glasgow.
· We will also be performing at the Fringe and International Festival in August. “Innocence” (part of the Made in Scotland Showcase) will be performed at Summerhall, Second Coming (part of Made in Scotland Showcase & the British Council Showcase) will be at Zoo Southside and a piece by Henri Oguike and “SisGo” will be part of Scottish Ballets Curated Dance Odyssey at the Festival Theatre as part of the Edinburgh International Festival.
· Big Dance Pledge festival will be towards the end of May. The will be no Guinness World Record this year so people don’t have to all do the dance on the same day. We can offer CPD sessions (dates to be confirmed asap) for teachers who wish to take part. GSD proposal includes CPD session in 2014 so can be integrated into next year’s CPD & Training Calendar.
