Standard 3: Teaching and Assessing for Learning
The school’s curriculum, instructional design, and assessment practices guide and ensure teacher effectiveness and student learning. / One teacher in each grade level will pilot the New Zealand Numeracy Project. / If educators have a deeper understanding of math instruction, then students will achieve to a higher level in mathematics. / Beginning August 7, 2013 through May 23, 2014. / Math Lead Teacher (Julie Auten), one teacher per grade level , and trainers provided by the county
Tracking student progress in math through Data Teams led by a trained teacher leader. / If groups work collaboratively to monitor student progress, then interventions will be supplied with fidelity to students at-risk while others will be accelerated. / Beginning August 26th, 2013 meetings scheduled every month for the school year. / Training for teacher leaders for each grade level. Common Planning Schedule in place to allow time for collaboration.
Establish a math lab to target 4th and 5th grade students who failed the CRCT or scored 809 and below. The lab takes place daily from 7:45 to 8:30. / If educators establish a routine intervention targeting specific skills, then at-risk students will make greater gains in mathematics. / Window beginning September 3, 2013 through May 13, 2014. / Julie Auten and Leslie Hamilton will progress monitor students.
The students will have access to laptops and the Moby Max program.
Grade level teachers will design two integrated units with real world connections and performance based assessments. / If educators deliver instruction that is integrated and rigorous, then students will make meaningful connections and enduring academic gains. / Beginning August 6th, 2013 through May, 2014 / Teachers will have one unit work day in the fall and spring. We need continued training for staff in the creation of Performance Based Assessments. Common Planning Schedule in place to allow time for collaboration.
