Black Death (Plague)
The Black Death was a plague that started in China. Inhabitants of China fled to Italy and brought the plague with them. By 1347 the plague had gone across Asia to the Black Sea. The Black Death then entered Melcombe,England in 1348 It was brought there by an English sailor who had been inGascony, France.
During 1348-1349, the plague which started in Dorsetshire spread to other towns on the seacoast of England like Devonshire, Somersetshire and Bristol. It then moved on toGloucester, Oxford, and London then all of England. When the Black Death was over, only 10 percent of the people survived. Most people died within a week.
The symptoms of the plague were initiallyfever, cough and blood-tinged sputum. As the disease progressed, sputum became free flowing and bright red. Freckle-like spots and rashes appeared over most of the body. Swellings or buboes appeared on the neck and in the armpits and groin. Tumors could range in size from that of an egg to that of an apple.A second variation - pneumatic plague - attacked the respiratory system and was spread by merely breathing the exhaled air of a victim. Somehow, some people managed to survive this painful ordeal
A good place for the setting would be London. People who go to see the movie will be able to relate to London because it is a well known city which has many interesting landmarks that will add to the interest of the movie.
The cast could consist of a leading man and leading women.Most of the cast would be the crowds of people which could be done with computer animation. Some minor characters could be a police officer, a mayor, and the King.
The movie could open with a brief history of how the Black Death started in China and got to England. The plot would be centered on the panic caused by the plague and the suffered and grief it caused the people. The leading man and leading woman would be trying to escape the plague as it spreads across England. The movie can show how the plague was able to spread so easily due to the filth in the streets. It can show the King’s part in the crises and how he established town councils about the state of the streets.
Most people were very poor. Their clothes were tattered and torn. Their houses were unkempt. Trash and garbage were in the streets.
This movie should appeal to people around the world. The Black Death affected most countries in existence at that time. It would show how venerable the human race really is. The Black Death should appeal to people between the ages of twenty and sixty.
