TheCanadianInternationalSchool System(CISS)operatesfour school programs inHo ChiMinhCity, Vietnam. CISS consistsoftheCanadianInternational School—Vietnam (CIS),theBilingual CanadianInternational School—Vietnam (BCIS), theCanada-VietnamKindergarten(CVK) andtheAlbertEinsteinSchool–Vietnam.

The TorontoDistrict SchoolBoard(TDSB)providesstaffing andrecruitmentconsultingservicestoCISS-VNfor CIS, BCISandCVK.The TDSB alsoprovides consultingservicesonprogrammingtoassist CISS-VNmeetandmaintain the curriculumstandards basedontheProvinceofOntariostandards. Allapplications areprovided toCISS. Applicants are hired byCISS, andif successful,will be anemployee oftheCISS—VN, reporting totheCISS-VNPrincipal.

Thepositionslistedinthispostingareforthe durationof2-years. Thecontractperiodmay beextended upon mutualagreement.

RequiredQualificationsandCommitments:

•Teachercertificationinthesubject specializationsanddivisionsfortheaboveposition

•A validOntarioCertificateof Qualificationandin goodstandingwiththe OntarioCollegeofTeachers (orhaveeligibilitytobecomein goodstandingwithOCTwith another Canadiancertification)

•English as a SecondLanguage Part 1additional qualificationorwillingtoundertake anonline AQ course in 2017-2018

Dutiesinclude:

•contributeeffectively to the ongoingsuccessof theschool inprovidinghighqualityeducationandforall students,with particularattentiontodevelopingstudents as global learners andcitizens;

•support allstudents indevelopinga loveof learningandin achievingtheir full potential;

•implementthe gradeand subjectstaughtbasedonthe OntarioCurriculumandby usingresearch-informed andstudent-centered pedagogy;

•ensure thatall studentsdevelopcompetenciesinliteracy andnumeracy, creativity,excellent communication, collaboration,thinkingskills;

•developcaringandpositiverelationships withstudents andstaff

•model the attributes promoted through the Ontariocharacter education program;

•participate fully in thedevelopmentof short andlongrange teaching/departmentplans andimplement

effectiveteachingandlearningstrategiesthat include useof technology;

•ensure thattheassessment, evaluation, andreportingstrategiesandpracticesare informedand meetthe standards ofOntario, Canada;

•lead, coordinate and/or support co-curricularactivities, andschool eventssuchas especially in the areas of

artsandculture;

•establish andcontribute toan inclusive, caringandsafe learningenvironment;

•workas aprofessionallearningcommunity toshare effective practices, provide richlearningexperiencesfor students andusemeaningful andauthenticprintanddigital learningresources;

•workwiththeschool leadershipteamin theimplementationof school improvement work; and

inspirepublic confidence in the school community

Experience: Note this position is open to new graduates from Canadian faculties of education

•Experience in teaching English Language Learners is an asset in addition to having qualifications in English as a Second Language.

Remuneration:

Remuneration is based on experience and qualifications. It also includes housing allowance, costs of flight to and from Canada(Toronto or Vancouver) to Ho Chi Minh City once per year, a one-time settling-in allowance, free tuition for the first child and a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the second child. Basic medical and health insurance is provided.
