Jan 7Departure to Amsterdam.
Jan 8Arrival in Amsterdam; two-hour walking tour of the city center. Hotel: Park
Plaza Vondelpark, Konningenweg 34-36, Amsterdam 1075 CZ. Group Dinner.
Jan 9Visit to the Van Gogh Museum. The collection has been relocated to the
Hermitage during the renovation of the Museum. We will walk to the Hermitage
along the “Van Gogh Mile” and spend most of the day there, with presentations
by Julia Cauthen, Matt Decker, Michael Shedd, Sarah Baldwin, Julia Namey,
Alex Young, and Mills Brown. Free dinner.
Jan 10Visit to the Rijksmuseum to see the works of Rembrandt, Hals, and other 17th-
century Dutch painters and the Hague School; free afternoon. Group Dinner.
Jan 11All-day excursion to Otterlo to see the Van Gogh paintings in the Kroller-Muller
Museum, with presentations by Rose Richardson, Ellen Ezekiel, Andrew
Strasburger, Hayes Lanford, Allison Grayson, and Hayden Raabe. Stopover on
the return trip in Utrecht for independent exploration. Free dinner.
Jan 12Transfer to The Hague; afternoon visit to the Mesdag Museum and the Panorama
Mesdag. Hotel:Bel Air, Johan deWittlaan 30, 2517 JR The Hague. Group
Dinner.
Jan 13Morning free for independent exploration in The Hague, visit to the Mauritshuis,
etc. Mid-afternoon departure for Paris. Hotel: MercureGare de Lyon, 2 Place
Louis Armand, 75012 Paris. Group Dinner.
Jan 14General orientation tour of Paris by bus, including Church of Les Invalides,
Trocadero, La Defense, Arc de Triomphe; afternoon visit to Notre-Dame and Ste.-
Chapelle. Free Dinner.
Jan 15All-day visit to the Louvre. We will use the Metro for transportation. Group
Dinner.
Jan 16Walking tour of Montmartre, inc. the building where Van Gogh lived, Place du
Tertre and SacreCoeur. Free afternoon. Bus transport to Montmartre; you will
find your own way back as you wish. Free Dinner.
Jan 17All-day visit to the Musée d’Orsay, with presentations by Ellen Andrews,
Matthew Houchins, Sari Imber, Ellie Futch, John Grantham, Eliza Miller, and
Alex Hunt. Bus transport to the museum; you will find your own way back. Free
Dinner.
Jan 18All-day excursion to Auvers-sur-Oise to visit the AubergeRavoux (Le Maison de
VanGogh), Notre-Dame d’Auvers, and thecemeterywhere the artist and his
brother are buried; stopover on the return in St.-Germain-en-Laye; GroupDinner.
Jan 19Departure for Arles in Provence. Hotel: Best Western Hotel Atrium, 1 rue Emile
Fassin, 13200 Arles. Group Dinner.
Jan 20All-day walking tour of Arles, including the Roman Arena, the church of Ste.-
Trophine, Les Alyscamps, and the Place du Forum. Presentations by Melissa
Sodergren, Hal Cannon, McFadyen Anderson, and Caleb Jennings. Free Dinner.
Jan 21Bus transport to the nearby town of Tarasconfor independent exploration.
Afternoon walk through the countryside of La Crau on the return to Arles. Group
Dinner.
Jan 22All-day excursion to Montpellier to visit the Musée Fabre with stop enroute in St.-
Gilles du Gard. Free Dinner.
Jan 23Departure for Marseille, with stops en-route at the Monastery of Montmajour,
the town of St.-Rémy, and the monastery-asylum of St.-Paul-de-Mausole, where
Van Gogh resided as a mental patient. Afternoon hike through the hills of Les
Alpilles to Les Baux-de-Provence; transfer to Marseille. Hotel: Holiday Inn
Express, 15 Boulevard Maurice Bourdet, 13001 Marseille. Group Dinner.
Jan 24All-day tour of Marseilles, inc. the Panier quarter, Centre de la VieilleCharité,
and the Cathedral in the morning; in the afternoon,Notre-Dame de la Garde and
