Basecamp is project management utility that improvesorganization and time management, reduces emailing, etc. Features include a calendar, blogs, messaging, to-do lists, milestones and a time-line, posting files that can be sorted in various ways, and writeboards (like a wiki).

Tim discussed the summary of the LibQUAL preliminary report.CNAC will go through Tim’s work at a future meeting.

  1. Basecamp discussion
  1. Using Basecamp will require a change of work mode. CNAC will need to commit to Basecamp, bookmark it, check it regularly, and use it.
  1. LibQUAL will be the project on Basecamp.

Action: Shabiran will request that Allan sets up a Basecamp account for CNAC. Shabiran will do the to-do list and create deadlines for the project. Shabiran will also ask Allan if there is some training that CNAC can do or any helpful online tutorials.

  1. Feedback from Guelph

Guelph sent out the comparisons in the form of charts. These need to get worked into the report at some point.

  1. Sensus (Charles)
  1. The group reviewed the web-survey tool Sensus as described at the site:

Charles walked the group through the demo survey. It was noted that the product had several important capabilities that other survey software such Survey Monkey did not have, including a large number of SPSS-friendly export options, an email module, scripting and logic control, and validation testing. Twenty instances are licensed for campus usage and seven are in use.

Action: Charles will request a test account that would allow the group to evaluate this new tool.

  1. Survey Research Centre

The IST seminar on Sensus included an introduction by Kathleen McSpurran on the services provided by the campus Survey Research Centre:

Charles noted that support seemed available from the centre for all aspects of survey methodology. It was reported that a data-analysis component of the service may be able to provide free data-analysis by graduate students.

The group agreed to invite Kathleen McSpurran to the next CNAC meeting to further describe the Survey Research Centre mandate and services.

For the next meeting:

-At the next meeting, the group will discuss the mandate of CNAC. Group members should review the mandate of CNAC before the next meeting.

-The group will look at the input from the managers.

-Kathleen McSpurran from the Survey Research Centre will be in attendance.

Next meeting: Thurs. July 26 at 10:00 a.m.
