Overview of The Innovation Category for Clinical Area
The Innovation in Clinical Area Category will be given to an individual or team in a clinical area who demonstrates an innovative way of thinking. The award recognises the efforts of a new or improved process, program or initiative with a demonstrated/correlated improvement in quality, service, financial operations and/or safety. The results must be measurable and show positive outcomes. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for thiscategory. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based, but within a clinical area. If nominating a team, one person on the team must be designated as Team Leader. Nominees must provide evidience and/or examples of living the behaviours as as outlined in Values in Action.
Criteria
Nominees of the Innovation in a Clinical Area Category will be evaluated according to the following criteria
Relevance / How the innovation addressed the need for the new/reviewed process/program/initiative.
Effectiveness / How the outcomes related to quality, service, financial operations and/or safety
Innovation / How was creativity and innovation demonstrated
Transferability / Describe how this innovation can be transferred, implemented or applied to other departments group wide.
Requirements and Eligibility
The nominees must be part-time or full-time, and actively employed with the UHL Hospitals Group for at least six months on or before the closing date for nomination.
- Volunteers are not eligible for this award.
- Nominees can be any grade/level of staff.
- Nominees must not have any performance/disciplinary issues within the past year.
- Nominees must exemplify the UL Hospitals Group Mission and vision statements and Core Values.
Clinical Director / Senior Management Endorsement
In order to be eligible for the Award, the nominator must seek endorsement from management as follows:
Clinical Director / If it is a team nomination and the team nominated are from the same clinical area
Team leader’s line manager / If it is a team nomination and the team are multidisciplinary
Line Manager / If it is an individual nomination

Application Review Process
All applications will be reviewed by a Judging Panel, which includes UL Hospitals Group Executive and Non-Executive members and leaders from outside the organization. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to
