Career Development Module 3: Principles of Finance Course #04300

The Rohrer College of Business has a Center for Professional Development (RCPD) specifically for business students to assist with career planning and professional development. The Center offers workshops, daily drop-in hours, and career programming as well as employer engagement opportunities. In addition to these services, students will complete Career Development Modules to help prepare them for their career. The modules are embedded within business core classes. In most cases, freshman will take Module 1 in their Rowan Seminar through the Passport Program, sophomores will take Module 2 in Legal Environment, juniors will take Module 3 in Principles of Finance and seniors will take Module 4 in their major-specific Senior Capstone course.

Module Overview: Complete one assignment from each of the module’scareer-related categories for a total of 5 including the final assessment (details below). Personal activity tracking will occur through the Path tool found within ProfLink – . Students are enrolled at the start of the semester into the Path titled“RCB Career Development Module 3”. If this “Path” does not appear, please immediately report to the RCPD team.

  1. Explore: Learn what you can do with your business degree and understand the professional opportunities that it aligns with through virtual and in-person research activities.
  2. Engage: Enhance professional skillset and personal brand through workshops, events and engaging both on and off-campus to become “career ready”. Students will develop the tools necessary to obtain jobs.
  3. Network: Participate in events and programming designed to help students practice the critical skill of networking and learn how to cultivate and maintain a professional network.
  4. Experience: Gain hands-on experience through various types of experiential learning; shadowing, leadership programs, externships and internships, etc.
  5. Final Assessment: Student will report activities they completed in final assessment to receive credit for the career module and faculty will assign correct number of points/% to their grade based off of the results.

Grading: Students will be REQUIRED to take the Module 3 Final Assessment (link found in ProfLink)once all activities have been completed to verify module items were completed or ZERO credit will be received. Each item, including the final assessment is worth 1% with a possible total of5% toward your final grade in the course. Final Assessment results will be sent to professors at the end of the semester to indicate the number of points that students should receive.

KEY DATES:

  • Week of January 22nd – RCPD class visit to review Career Development Module 3 and explain how to complete
  • January 22nd – April 20th–Bi-Weekly reminders will be emailed to students/faculty from the RCPD
  • Week of March 5th – RCPD mid-semester class visits to remind about Module 3 & completing final assessment
  • Friday, March 9th– NEW – Early Bird Due Date – All students to submit their final assessment at the mid-semester mark will receive a special prize from the RCPD!
  • Friday, April 20th – FINAL DUE DATE – ALL Final Assessments must be submitted by students to receive ANY credit
  • Week of April 30th - A final report of student completion (number of points earned) will be sent to professors for inclusion in final grade
