GROWING MORE DEEPLY

INTO PRAYER

Dear Friends,

When we attended the Power of Prayer Conferences at the end of February, many of us were inspired by Mark Yaconelli’s approach to prayer, and wanted to learn more about how to pray. The feedback has been extremely positive and the diocese would now like to offer more opportunities for us to develop our prayer lives during this time of change in our churches and communities.

We are planning to offer a short course of four taster sessions in the autumn based on a similar approach of creative engagement used by Mark, known as the Ignatian tradition of prayer, based on the teaching of St Ignatius of Loyola. The four sessions would be:

1. Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality and how to enter into prayer
2. Using scripture to pray
3. Imaginative contemplation: meeting Jesus in the Gospels
4. Praying the Examen: looking at our lives with the Lord and finding God in all things

These sessions will be led with the help of the Outreach Team from St Beuno’s Retreat Centre.

I hope that you will consider taking up this opportunity to encounter perhaps a new and fresh prayer tradition which could help to deepen your personal and corporate life in Christ.

To register an interest in participating in this course please complete and return the form below which will help us to identify the number and locations of groups by 12th June.

I am interested in learning more about prayer and would welcome further information regarding venues and dates.
