Team spirit: LIQUI MOLY and Engstler Motorsport drive together again in 2013

Franz Engstler and Charles Kaki Ng are taking part in the World Touring Car Championship again

January 2013 – LIQUI MOLY and Engstler Motorsport will continue their cooperation in the 2013 season and take part in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) as LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler. The racing team is backing the driver pairing from last year: team owner Franz Engstler and junior driver Charles Kaki Ng from Hong Kong.

When the lights turn green on 24 March in Monza, Italy, the sixth season in the World Touring Car Championship will begin for the racing team. Team owner, Franz Engstler, has been involved since the beginning of this racing series. "At over 50 and with his motor sport experience he is practically a part of the furniture at the WTCC," jokes team manager Kurt Treml. Charles Kaki Ng will be sat in the cockpit of the second car. The Hong Kong native debuted in this racing class in 2012. "The first year was about gaining experience," says Treml. In the final races of last season a clear upward tendency could be recognised. "We want to support Charles in his development in order to ensure he fulfils his driving potential." The team will continue to race in the private driver category.

LIQUI MOLY Marketing Manager Peter Baumann also sees potential in the cooperation with Motorsport Engstler in the World Touring Car Championship. "In sporting terms, we have experienced a maximum in emotions in five years of WTCC. After a mixed 2012 we want to compete in the highest ranks again this season." Away from the purely sporting events, Baumann is also more than satisfied with the brand image: "The World Touring Car Championship is not a sterile race track, but a motor sport you can touch. And we have a congenial brand ambassador in the Engstler Team ."

It is not just the presence in the media that is important to LIQUI MOLY, but also the interlocking of sponsoring with sales measures. For example, the company is organising customer competitions with its sales partners abroad. "We want to expand on these customer events in 2013," reports the Marketing Manager. They are looking forward to the WTCC opener in Moscow. Russia is the most important export market for the lubricant manufacturer.
