Grades

The grade of the cartridge indicates its filtration efficiency and the size of particle it filters. Listed below are the grades of filters available. Vapor adsorption cartridges(CI), sintered metal filters and liquid(LP) cartridges are listed separately. B, D, 95, SA, VP, 371H, SMF and CI cartridges are usually available as regular catalog items; many of the other grades are available but not published in the catalog or are available as special items.

LP cartridges

LP cartridges are also known as depth cartridges. These cartridges are designed for liquid filtraiton. The 10, 20, and 30 grade cartridges are constructed entirely of polypropylene. The 50, 60, 70, and 80 grade cartridges are constructed of polypropylene, borosilicate glass and polyethylene binder. The direction of flow is inside to outside. The chemical and solvent compatibility are listed on page 5.[crp5]

LP grade / 80% efficiency at / Other stages required
10 / 75 micron / None
20 / 25 micron / None
30 / 10 micron / LP grade 10
50 / 1 micron / LP grade 20
60 / 0.6 micron / LP grade 10, LP grade 30
70 / 0.4 micron / LP grade 20, LP grade 50
80 / 0.22 micron / LP grade 20, LP grade 50

SMF cartridges

Sintered metal filters are stainless steel designed for applications having heavy loading of solid contaminants. They are also suitable for removing heavy, viscous liquids from gases and as prefilters to high efficiency final filters. The end seals are Viton. Many of these have to be ordered as assemblies with the housing.
