Term 4 summer program
We start our summer program this term. We start
off the morning with outside play, and then inside
after lunch, when the sun and UV rays are at their
hottest and highest. Weather permitting, we then
return outside in the afternoon for further outside
play. Please remember to bring a broad brimmed
hat and shirt with sleeves to comply with our Sun
Safe Policy.

The Grenfell Public School will be Tuesday 17th
,24th, and31st October and 7th &14th November
St Joseph’s Primary School will be Wednesday 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th November.
Notes will go home to families next week with children commencing school in 2018, containing further information regarding each school’s transition program. Please fill them out and return them as soon as possible
Shed
The new shed has started and the concrete was poured on Tuesday. One of the contractors said he has never had so many watch him work before. No doubt the children were like me and wonder what it would be like to walk over the cement. I am sure he read our thoughts as he said we couldn’t walk over it as it was too wet and we would make big holes in it and get stuck
Young Eyes
Young Eyes will be visiting Grenfell Preschool on Tuesday 17th October at 9am to conduct eye screenings for 4-5-year-old children. We urge all parents to have their child's eyes checked before they start school. If your child does not attend on the Tuesday they are still very welcome to attend the eye screening service but need to be accompanied by an adult.
We have been asked by the Young Eyes thoseparents wishing to have their children eyes tested to be at the centre by 9am as they have limited time in Grenfell.
SCHOOLDENTAL SCREENING
Staff from Cowra Dental Clinic will be visiting our centre on Thursday 26th October to conduct Dental Screenings and a Brush-in. Only children who return their Dental Screening consent form will have a check-up. Please complete each section in the consent form.
The Cowra Dental Clinic is located in the grounds of Cowra Public School and offers a free service to all children from 0-18 yrs.
Eating a healthy diet, avoid drinking sugary drinks such as juice, soft drinks and cordial brushing your
teeth twice a day with a fluoride tooth paste and having regular checks-ups are all important in maintaining good oral health.
Appointments at the clinic can be made by calling 1300552626. Have your Medicare card with you when you call.
PERMISSION NOTES ARE AVAIABLE AT THE OFFICE
HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
The holiday day program has been lots of fun.A visit to Wallangreen Sculpture Garden was amazing and I would encourage everyone to go and have a look at all the sculpturesand see how gifted Glen Wallace was. Jan Wallace was happy to show the children around the large garden to see everything and talk to the children. The Creation clock is amazing and the amount of work in making it is unbelievable.Tuesday, we took the children from the Garden and Star room down to Crafty kids at the hub. They did craft all morning with the staff from the centre and the staff from Crafty kids.
The walk to the Meat Barn was great and the children were shown through the shop and all the different cuts of meat. They were given sausages that we took to the park and cooked for lunch.
THANKYOU TO THE PARENTS THAT CAME ALONG AND HELP WITH THE CHILDREN
We have lots more fun planed for the children this week too.
In the Star Room, they have been trying to encourage kindness in their everyday interactions. They introduced saving bread tags and plastic lids so they can support the sweetheart wheelchair foundation, to deliver positive change to people in need in South Africa.
The support has been over whelming and we would like to thank everyone who brought in the tags and lids, and at the end of October we will finish the collection and sent them off to Africa

New Childcare package
The Australian Government is introducing a new child care package from 2 July 2018. The
existing Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate will be replaced by a new Child Care Subsidy.
Under the new package, the amount of subsidy paid by the Government to help cover a family’s child care fees will change for many people.
It’s important that families know about the changes now so they can make informed decisions about their future. The easiest way for families to work out how much subsidy they may be eligible for is through the ‘Family Child Care Subsidy Estimator’ located at It’s easy to use and only takes a few minutes to fill out.
Theyhave also recently launched a new Facebook page for stakeholders, teachers, parents and carers, and students. Like or follow the page atFacebook.com/AusGovEducation.
