Frequently Asked Questions
Keep this page for your records.
1. How much does it cost to be a Johnny Reb?
Dues are paid in two different installments. The first installment of 100 is paid by the member and is due by the first member meeting. This meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 7th in H220.
The second installment of 300 dollars is paid by sponsors that the member secures. These sponsors are intended to be community businesses as a way to advertise our organization, obtain additional funding, and a way for the sponsor to advertise his/her business. Please note that no more than 100 dollars of the total 300 dollars can be obtained from family members. The sponsorship dues are due by Tuesday, June 30th.
2. Can students be involved in athletics and/or other organizations?
Yes, a Johnny Reb may be involved in other campus organizations/athletics; however, the following must be understood by the Johnny Reb member:
1. Johnny Rebs must be given equal or greater attention and commitment.
2. The student must have enough time to commit to the Johnny Reb organization. In the Fall, we attend all football games, participate in all pep rallies, lead community service projects, and lead the freshman mentoring program. In the spring we continue our responsibilities to spring season sports, community service, and freshman mentoring in addition to our annual LipSync.
3. Please note that some organizations and sports are easier to accommodate than others. Before making a commitment to Johnny Rebs, be sure to inform both the Johnny Reb sponsor and the sponsor/coach of the additional organization of your intentions.
3. What summer commitments are involved?
1. All members are required to attend Johnny Reb retreat.
2. All members are encouraged to attend social events designed by the captains. These are especially important to help the team bond before the beginning of the school year.
