SAMPLE House Rules
The resident agrees to the following general rules and other detailed rules and regulations which may be cooperatively adopted by <insert Independent Living Name> residents, and that failure to comply may result in eviction:
- Every tenant of <insert Independent Living Name> is responsible for his/her medication and contacts with their doctors.
- No fire arms, contrabands, or weapons are allowed at <insert Independent Living Name>.
- Each tenant shall maintain his/her areas (bedrooms and other assigned areas) and shall be held responsible for replacement of misused or lost items including equipment, furniture, appliances, tools and fixtures used ,handled by, or assigned tohim/her for use, or any damage caused by him/her to community areas or items above normal wear and tear.
- Smoking is permitted outside only.
- Reasonable quiet hours will be observed throughout the house before 9:00 am and after 10:00 pm. Residents are expected to refrain from loud music, shouting and other noisy activity that may interfere with other resident’s ability to sleep.
- Residents have the right to privacy; residents must request permission to enter another resident’s bedroom. Residents are not to be disturbed or awakened unless by mutual agreement or because of an emergency.
- Visiting hours are from 9:00 am – 10:00 pm. Residents are responsible for the actions of their guests; all guests are expected to follow the <insert Independent Living Name> house rules.
- <Insert Independent Living Name> facilitates a group of adults living together as a family. Residents are expected to treat each other like family, and with respect at all times.
- No couples. Sexual activity is not allowed at <insert Independent Living Name>.
- Abuse and harassment of other tenants will not be tolerated.
House Rules Violation Policy
- The following will result in immediate eviction:
- any act of physical violence
- possession of a dangerous weapon
- illegal drugs, alcohol abuse
- illegal acts
- any act deemed extremely disruptive or dangerous to other residents.
- The following will result in probation:
- smoking inside the house
- alcohol on the premises
- Oral abuse or harassment
- Disturbing another resident’s privacy
- Breaking of quiet rules
- Curfew rules
- Unruly guests
- Bedrooms or common space not maintained
- Chores not followed
- Sexual activity on premises
- any other acts deemed disruptive to other residents.
