STANDARD VISUAL EFFECTS PRESS KIT MATERIALS:
STANDARD FILM PRESS KIT MATERIALS (FOR FILM STUDENTS)
Please provide all requested materials below in different labelled folders on a DATA DVD OR CD as instructed below.
DISC 1
FOLDER 1 ‘Press kit’
(Fill out the following questions as detailed as possible/do not hand write, please type it out in black) If in foreign language, there needs to be English subtitles added.
- If in foreign language, there needs to be English subtitles added. [If applicable]
- Name of title of film in English if not already.
- Running Time and original format of film [8mm, 16mm, Digital, DVC Pro, HD, etc.]
- Sound Format
- Genre
- Target Age Group
- Year of Production
- Aspect ratio [4:3, 16:9, 1.85:1, Scope, etc]
- School level: (Undergraduate or Graduate)
- 3 synopsis write-ups [1 sentence, 75 words, 150 words]. This is not your artist’s statement.
- 1 Short Autobiography. [please include graduation date or expected graduation date and degree earned]
- 1 Brief Artist’s Statement. [approx. 150 words]
- Artists Photo [headshot, BW or color] 300 DPI
- AT LEAST 3 or more stills at 300 dpi, [jpg, tiff](Any thing under this resolution is not accepted for festivals)
- Contact Information [current and permanent address, phone, email] need this also of Director and Producer.
- Age of artist at time of film finish.
- Name of supervising Faculty member [in the case of a Senior Project/Thesis, use name of your committee Chair]
- Full Credit List
- List of Software Used
- Techniques Used
- Production Time and Budget [2, one low budget, one high if applicable]
- Filmography and/or Prior Festival Activity History.
- Photocopy of student ID’s from all the people who worked on the film.
- 1 Signed permission form. [separate]
- [Expected] Graduation date and Major/Degree (i.e., M.F.A. Animation, Spring 08)
- Personal or film URL[if applicable]
- 1 Copy of resume [optional]
FOLDER 2 ‘MOV FILES’
An uncompressed and compressed QuickTime with the highest codec, at Animation or H264
Aspect Ratio should be at 16:9
Try to render film in widescreen, if not, 720 x 480.
FOLDER 3 ‘STILLS & PERMISSION’
do not attach the following photos and images with press kit,
Director’s & Producer’s Photo [headshot, BW or color] 300 DPI
AT LEAST 10 production stills and AT LEAST 10 actual film stills at 300 dpi, [jpg and tiff] (Please provide both formats)(Images under this resolution are not accepted for any festivals) dimensions 8 x 11 inches Photocopy of student ID’s of the Director and producer
1 signed permission letter from the director (see attached permission form below)
FOLDER 4 ‘SCRIPT & DIALOGE
A dialog sheet (If available)
Copy of the Script
1 Copy of resume [optional]
DISC 2
Once you have prepared everything in all different folders. Create a new DVD of your film as following:
1 playable DVD (NTSC) of your film with no menus, no bars and tones, plays automatically on insert.
Label the disc with the following information
- Film name
- Director’s name
- Total Run Time
- Email address
NOTE: You don’t have to print the Disc just label with a marker. If you find anything hard to understand, or if you have any questions while filling the press kit, feel free to contact me at or 9125258502. Submit these 2 completed Discs at Montgomery Hall, 4th floor room 429.
