PART ONE: SMART GRID INVESTMENT DECISIONS AND LIFE CYCLE COSTING –The first part of this panel will review the decision-making process for investing in smart grid projects and explain the importance of life cycle costing to achieve maximum value.
PART TWO: FINANCING OPTIONS AND RESOURCES –The second part of this panel will discuss specific financing options and resources for the implementation of smart grid projects.
Panelists may include representatives from African Development Bank, World Bank, OPIC, Citibank, DBSA, IDC

15:15 – 16:30 / TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS TO ENABLE THE SMART GRID –This panel will look at field measurement and control devices and the communications infrastructure that supports smart grid solutions for electricity transmission and distribution systems. The panel will discuss the enhancement of system operations resulting from real-time data collection from the smart grid.
