Objective(s) / -To enhance the competitiveness of staff intending to apply for large-scale and/or group-based collaborative research projects for stem cell and regenerative medicine researchfrom an outside funding body
-To enable production of high quality and impactful research outputs / -To enhance the competitiveness of staff intending to apply for externalresearch support for stem cell and regenerative medicine research from an outside funding body
-To enable production of high quality and impactful research outputs / To enhance collaboration with the Karolinska Institutet (KI) by co-hosting conferences/symposia/workshopsforstem cell and regenerative medicine research.
Eligibility / -professoriate staff of HKU may apply as PI (i.e. staff at the rank of Assistant Professor or above)
-one of the co-investigators of the project must be from the Karolinska Institutet (KI)
Selection criteria / -soundness of the proposal
-expected deliverables
-strength of the project team / -soundness of the proposal
-anticipated benefits in organizing the proposed event
-strength of the organizing team
Award conditions / Submission of a mid-term and final reports / Submission of a final report / Submission of a final report
Amount of award / $3 million maximum per project; availability of matching fund is an advantage / $0.5 million maximum per project / $0.5million maximum per project
Duration / 3 years / 1 year / 1 year
Maximum no. of projects to be supported in this round / Up to 2 projects / Up to 2 projects / 1 workshop per year to take place in HK and KI alternatively

Application and supporting documents / A proposal including the following and endorsed by the Head or Dean (for unitary Faculty):
-details of PI and CoIs (name and position);
-research proposal;
-expected deliverables, e.g. an application for external research grants, production of impactful outputs, etc. (For PI who plan to apply for external grant(s) upon completion of the project, please state when and where the initial findings will be submitted for outside funding; for PI who is not intending to apply for external grant, please provide justifications);
-an itemized budget;
-written consent from the Co-I(s) from KI to participate in the project; and
-supplementary information deemed appropriate. / A proposal including the following and endorsed by the Head or Dean (for unitary Faculty):

-a scientific description of the event;
-proposed dates and venue of the event;
-no. and types of participants expected;
-anticipated benefits to HKU and KI;
