CE SOPHOMOREAPPEAL FORM

For Sophomores Wishing to Take More than One CE Class/Semester

Utah Board of Regents and SLCC policy states that in order to take concurrent enrollment classes students must have junior or senior standing, with sophomores by exception. SLCC allows high schools to identify sophomores that they feel are mature and responsible enough as well as academically and socially ready for a college-level concurrent enrollment course. Not all CE classes are available to sophomores and a student should consult with his or her high school counselor to identify opportunities available at the high school.

Because, as sophomores, this is the first time in a student’s academic career that they will be taking a college level class, SLCC Concurrent Enrollment want to make sure that they have a successful experience. In order to avoid the scenario where asophomore ends uptaking on too much as they adjust to the rigor, pacing and level of responsibility expected in a college class, sophomores are limited to one concurrent enrollment class per semester.

There are instances where unusual circumstances make additional concurrent enrollment classes necessary for a sophomore. In these casesstudents may submit to the CE Officethe following appeal to be allowed to take more than one concurrent enrollment class in a semester.

Instructions:1) Student complete and sign the form, with all required documentation outlined in the sections below,2)Student meets with and discusses the potential challenges and risks with his or her parent/guardian and HS counselor.
