CRIMPING SPECIFICATION
KA & N SERIES
0.6mm DIAMETER CONTACTS
The use of Hypertac® crimp contacts allows faster and more consistant terminations.
The following is a suggested procedure:
Materials:
A.Connector housing.
B.Contacts: see TABLE 1
- Crimp Tool: AFM8 (M22520/2-01 or MS3198-1)
- Positioner: see TABLE 1
- Insertion tool: S/MONT 1.0060 or Brass Tweezers.
- Insertion tool: N – SERIES K Type Module T2025.

- The H2 style of contact can be crimped twice for added pull strength. The second crimp is performed on the wire insulation. To complete this procedure a second positioner is required (K640).
PREPARATION:
A.Wire must be stripped back to length according to TABLE 1.
B.1.The positioner must be mounted into the crimp tool (FIGURE 1).
2.There is an adjustment on the tool that sets the depth of the crimp into the
contacts. We suggest that you use the settings specified on the positioner for each awg size, however other settings are possible.
3.Insert contact into assembly then insert wire into contact (FIGURE 2).
- Squeeze handle of tool together and insert contact into tool (FIGURE 2). Tool must be
squeezed completely to release the completed crimped contact.
- The contact is now ready to be inserted into the insulator. If you will look closely at the
contact, you will notice that there are two flats on either side. These flats must align with the flats in the insulator in order to be fully inserted and locked into place. (Figure 3)
- Using the tool recommended in the material section of this spec. (note E. or F.), simply push the contacts into place (FIGURE 4). Repeat process until connector wiring is complete.
NOTE: Contacts inserted into cavities incorrectly (miss-aligned flats) must be removed.
The plastic insulator and contact should be replaced if damaged before re-assembling.
NOTE: If a contact should be put in the wrong position it can be easily removed with an S/DEM1.0060 (REMOVAL TOOL). Once out, it can be repositioned.
