Course Description:
The purpose of 6th grade English is to acclimate students to the three modes of writing. Students will learn how to develop entertaining narratives, thought provoking informational essays, and argumentative pieces with clear rebuttals through modeled experiences as well as the writing process. Students will also begin citing textual evidence in their writing this year using the Point-Quote-Analyze format. A key part to a well-developed writing piece is grammar. Students will have mini-lessons about each part of speech. As per Kentucky 6th grade English Language Arts standards, pronouns usage will be a grammar focus during this school year. Classes will also have vocabulary words to enhance their current terminology.

Remind 101 is a text messaging service that allows me to communicate important information and reminders safely with students and parents. Please note the following:
-The number (573) 535-5512 is NOT my personal cell phone number

-You must join to receive the text reminders
-It is helpful to save the number (573) 535-5512 as a contact to eliminate confusion between multiple teachers using Remind101
You do NOT have to have an iPhone to receive messages. Any phone with text messaging capabilities will work. If you would like to join and receive this very convenient way to communicate, please text the class period specific codeto (573) 535-5512.
