Purpose

The purpose of the biennial IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), following the footsteps of the previous two editions in Tokyo, Japan (1997) and Atlanta, Georgia, USA (1999), is to promote activities in various areas of mechatronics by providing a forum for exchange of ideas, presentation of technical achievements, and discussion of future directions. The theme of the conference is Synergy in Mechatronics—The Next Step of Information Technology.

Topics

Actuators, Automotive Systems, Bioengineering, Data Storage Systems, Electronic Packaging, Fault Diagnosis, Human-Machine Interfaces, Industry Applications, Information Technology, Intelligent Systems, Machine Vision, Manufacturing, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, Micro/Nano Technology, Modeling and Design, Motion Vibration and Noise Control, Neural and Fuzzy Control, Opto-Electronic Systems, Planning and Navigation, Prototyping, Real-Time and Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation, Robotics, Sensors, System Integration, Transportation Systems, and other applications including new frontier fields of Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics.

Venue

Como is in Lombardia region (Northern Italy), located about 40 Km from Milan in a wealthy industrial area. Only a few minutes away from the Swiss border, it can be reached by train or car in about 40 minutes from the hub Milan Malpensa 2000 International Airport. It is also in an ideal position to reach famous resorts such as Venice and Portofino (three hours), Florence and Siena (four hours) and St. Moritz (two hours). Just half an hour from noisy, bustling Milan, Lake Como is a jewel-like oasis of tranquillity. Villa Olmo is a majestic building of 18th century located along the lakeside and set in a large garden.

Submission of Papers, Videos, Workshops and Tutorials

Three types of papers are sought: Regular Papers, Invited Session Papers and Industry-Oriented Papers. Regular papers will be classified according to the geographical area of the contact author and reviews will be handled by the corresponding Program Co-Chair. Prospective organizers of invited sessions should submit proposals to the Invited Session Chair in due course. Further, papers having a clear industrial connotation can be submitted. Likewise, proposals for industry-oriented sessions could be submitted to the Industry-Oriented Chair in due course. Reviews of submitted Videos will be handled by the Video Session Chair.

All three types of papers and videos should be submitted in Electronic Form. Instructions are available at http://www.AIM01.unina.it (click Submission of Papers and Videos in the navigation menu). The E-Media Chair is responsible for any matter regarding electronic submission.

Prospective organizers of Workshops and Tutorials should submit proposals to the Workshop and Tutorial Chair in due course.
