Aloha! For your seventh reading requirement, you have the opportunity to read an 8th grade classic, The Outsiders. As evidence that you have met the learning targets of:

you must provide the following (MUST BE TYPED).

  1. Create a Character Bio/Plot Poem for one of the characters from your book.

OR

  1. Something of your own creation (per teacher approval –YOU must discuss your project with me by ______).

Outline:

I am self-centered. I don’t care about anyone else, not even my dog.

I am a thief of both things and Christmas spirit.

I am mean-spirited. I want to steal Christmas from the Whos because I know it brings them joy.

I am intolerant. If I’m not happy, I don’t want anyone else to be happy.

I listen to the Whos singing every Christmas and I hate them.

I develop a plan to destroy their next Christmas.

I sneak into town and steal everything from every house.

Christmas morning the Whos come out and celebrated anyway.

My heart grows 3 sizes that day and I join the Whos in their celebration.

I learn that Christmas isn’t about the gifts and decorations; it’s about being with the ones you love.

I’m going to be much nicer to my dog!
