Emerging Public Leaders

The staff of the Riley Institute is looking forward to having you at Furman for our Emerging Public Leaders program!
When to arrive: Sunday, June 18 at 1:00 PM.
Where to go: Please go directly to Furman’s South Housing, Manly Dorm (come in Furman’s front gate and follow the signs to South Housing/EPL). Your counselors will be there to greet you (if you get lost please call Melanie’s cell phone at 864-921-8367). At that time, you will be given your room and roommate assignments and will be able to check into your room. Once you have settled in, please come to the registration area for a brief welcome reception at 2 p.m. (your families are invited to attend this reception).
What to bring: Casual clothes (enough for the week)
Athletic clothing for playing games
Tennis Shoes
A few nicer outfits
Swimsuit and towel for pool party
Flip flops/shower shoes
Toiletries
Alarm Clock
Cell phone is okay
IPOD is okay for use in dorm room only
What NOT to bring: All towels and bedding will be provided.
Television, VCR/DVD
Alcohol or illegal drugs
Note: If you bring a car to Furman, you must give your keys to an EPL staff member until the program is over.

Directions to Furman Campus
Directions to Furman via Stone Avenue
• I-385 NORTH (Greenville)
• Exit 42-Stone Avenue (toward Travelers Rest)
• Right at stoplight onto Stone Avenue
• Travel about 2 miles
• TURN RIGHT at stoplight onto Rutherford Rd-toward Travelers Rest
• Travel about 1 mile
• Rutherford turns into Poinsett Hwy, continue straight on Poinsett Hwy
• Travel about 3 ½ miles
• Exit RIGHT onto Furman’s campus
Through Downtown Greenville
• Take I-26 to I-385 N toward downtown Greenville.
• I-385 will bring you straight into downtown Greenville.
• Continue straight past the Bi-Lo Center on the Rt. This road becomes Beattie Place, then College St.
• Follow this road until bearing right onto Rutherford Road/US 276 West toward Travelers Rest and Furman University.
• Continue five miles to the Furman exit. After about 2 miles this road becomes Poinsett Highway.
• After passing Publix on your left, Furman’s exit will be about ¼ mile on the RIGHT.
From Pleasantburg Drive/SC-291 N
• I-385 N toward Greenville
• Merge onto SC-291 N via EXIT 40A
• Follow SC-291 N signs and turn LEFT to stay on Pleasantburg Dr/SC-291 N (Red Lobster will be on your right)
• When you arrive at Cherrydale shopping center on your left, the road turns into State Park Road at the Olive Garden
• Turn RIGHT onto POINSETT HWY/US-25 BR N/US-276 W (Chick-Fil-A on left)
• After passing Publix on your left, Furman’s exit will be about ¼ mile on the RIGHT.
