Catering Assistant

In choosing the Catering Assistant we will be looking for a dedicated, effective and enthusiastic individual for an outstanding Alternative Provision Free School.

Potential candidates can arrange to visit and tour the school during the application stage.

Purpose of the post

  • Our ideal candidate will assist the School Cook in providing an efficient and effective catering service in accordance to healthy eating and DfE guidance.
  • To assist with all aspects of catering including serving students at meal times.
  • To ensure that food hygiene and health and safety regulations are in place and adhered to at all times.

Salary:

£14,075 – £15,207 NJC point 9 –11.

Part-time20 hours per week pro-rata to term-time only (39 weeks).

Line of responsibility

The Catering Assistantis directly responsible to the School Business Manager.

Catering AssistantDuties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the Cook in preparing all meals and ensuring they are delivered on time for all students.
  • Maintain a high standard of food presentation using appropriate equipment in keeping with Environmental Health requirements.
  • Assist with checking and putting away deliveries as required ensuring food is handled and stored correctly, including rotation of stock.
  • Assist with cleaning schedules within catering and dining areas to ensure compliance with Health & Safety Procedures and Food Safety Regulations.
  • Washing all kitchen utensils and equipment and putting them away appropriately.
  • Maintain a high standard of food and kitchen hygiene.
  • Carry out and record details of equipment and appliance checks as required.
  • Report any faults with equipment and appliances to the Cook.
  • Prepare the dining area prior to and after service.
  • Engage with students to ensure they receive nutritional meals adequate to their needs and having due regard at all times to quality control and quality.
  • Provide a god standard of customer service to all users of the catering area.
  • Complete administrative duties as requested by the Cook.
  • Keep up to date as required with catering, food hygiene and health and safety regulations.

  • To support and encourage the academy’s ethos and its objectives, policies and procedures as agreed by the governing body.
