SERGEANT MAJOR BRIAN C. HOGANCAMP

FIRST BATALLION, SIXTH MARINES

CAMP LEJEUNE, NORTH CAROLIINA

Sergeant Major Hogancamp enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 1991 and completed recruit training with 3rd BN Kilo Company, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. Following recruit training; Private Hogancamp attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC and the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC. Upon completion, he was assigned the MOS of 0311.

Private First Class Hogancamp reported to the Basic Security Guard School (BSG) in Chesapeake, VA during March of 1992 and was assigned the additional MOS of Basic Security Guard. Private First Class Hogancamp was assigned to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Charleston, South Carolina.

Meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal in 1994, Corporal Hogancamp was then transferred to Second Battalion, Ninth Marines which was designated as Second Battalion, Fourth Marines in Camp Pendleton, California serving as an Operations NCO and Fire Team Leader. When promoted to Sergeant in 1995 he served as a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant for First Platoon, Echo Company.

Sergeant Hogancamp was then transferred to MCRD San Diego in March 1998 serving as a Junior Drill Instructor for Third Battalion, India Company; meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2000 serving as a Senior Drill Instructor.

Staff Sergeant Hogancamp was then transferred to Third Battalion, Second Marines at Camp Lejuene, NC in 2001 serving as a Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant for India Company. Staff Sergeant Hogancamp was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in February 2004.

Gunnery Sergeant Hogancamp was then transferred to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2005 serving as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University.

Gunnery Sergeant Hogancamp was promoted to First Sergeant in November 2007 and reported to 2d Marine Logistics Group, 2d Supply Battalion, serving as Headquarters and Service Company, Supply Company and Combat Logistics Regiment 25 Headquarters Company 1stSgt. 1st Sgt Hogancamp was transferred in June 2010 to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Norfolk, Virginia serving as the Headquarters and Service Company 1stSgt.

Sergeant Major Hogancamp assumed his current duties as Battalion Sergeant Major of 1st Battalion Sixth Marines on June 6, 2012.

Sergeant Major Hogancamps’ personal decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award with Combat “V” distinguishing device, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four Gold Stars in lieu of fifth award and the Combat Action Ribbon.
