Summary (for faculty, expository explanation of assignment)
Students will be provided with a case study involving a crime scene investigation. This case study consists of 3 parts. For the first part, the students will work in teams of 3-4 students to collaboratively analyze the case study and answer directed questions looking for the possible causes of death of a married couple found dead in a hot tub and the possible causes of loss of consciousness of their neighbor. To be able to complete this assessment, the student will need different sources of information which include: classroom notes, textbook readings assignments and out of class research. The second part of the assignment consists of individual students writing a detailed report using the information gathered while working as a group. (Communication, Critical Thinking, Empirical and Quantitative Reasoning) The student will explain the components of blood pressure regulation and the influences that alcohol, heat and a diuretic known as Lasix, have on blood pressure regulation and hence state of consciousness. The students will use the proper anatomical terminology and physiological processes responsible for such event in their essay.
For the third part of the assignment, the students are to complete the Teamwork Reflection prompt questions (Teamwork).
Parameters/Logistics (for faculty, specific parameters or logistics when implementing)
·  (Do not remove, standard for all courses) The assignment must be collected through an “Assignment” content item in Blackboard. Faculty electing to use Turnitin may do so, but students will need to submit the document twice: first to the Bb “Assignment” content item and second to Turnitin.
·  (Do not remove, standard for all courses) The assignment assesses an outcome included in the syllabus for the course; thus, all assignments should be included as a regular grade in the course. The assignment should not be considered optional, extra-credit, or a bonus activity.
