RESEARCH INTERESTS AND CAREER GOALS
I am broadly interestedin the effects of developmental stress on adult cognitive function, behavior, physiology, and reproductive success. After completing my PhD, I plan to pursue post-doctoral research before pursuing a faculty position at a research institute.

I work with girls ages 9-18 to help them understand the biological bases of stress and to develop effective coping strategies to manage stressful situations such as bullying.

I contributed to the organization and mobilization of University of Florida community members to encourage and support undergraduate and graduate women in science, mathematics, and engineering.

I contributed to an annual,one-week long botanical inventory study of the flora of Santa Cruz Island. I assisted in the training of volunteers in 2001 and served as a co-leader in 2002, 2004, and 2005.

I led middle school girls in science activities to help build interest and self-esteem in science.
MENTORSHIP
I have mentored three undergraduates at the University of Montana through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) funded Montana Integrated Learning Experiences for Students (MILES). One of these students was a first generation college student and two were women. My collaborations with these students have resulted in one co-authored publication and five student presentations (including three at national meetings).
