Greenock Free Church
We are a small congregation, who worship faithfully morning and evening each Sunday, meet for prayer and fellowship on Wednesday afternoons, have a Ladies’ Fellowship meeting monthly September – June and a fortnightly Bible Study.
We requently get visitors which is thrilling. Once a year we have Psalms for a Summer Evening – a recital by the Glasgow Psalm Singers which is much enjoyed by many. This year was no exception. On 12th June our wee church was packed. We were delighted. The Psalm Singers sang beautifully from Sing Psalms and the Scottish Psalter. Rev Iain Thomson, our Interim Moderator, enhanced the meeting and the theme throughout was Credit Crunch/Spiritual Crunch. It was a very encouraging evening attended mostly by local people.
We had a lovely fellowship afterwards in St John’s Episcolpal Church Hall (next door). Most people stayed for refreshments and meeting friends.
We are grateful to the Glasgow Psalm Singers, their conductors Donald Macrae and Evan Macdonald. Evan giving a resume on the psalm tuns and composers.
We appreciate very much the singers willingness to come to Greenock each year.
Sincere thanks to all who made our evening such a happy night.
Thanks to Rev Iain Thomson, our Interim Moderator, assessor elders and all who so willingly come to help us.
If you are in the Inverclyde area please come and visit us. You will be sure of a very warm welcome.
