Vision

This scholarship was created in honor of my mother, Alma Ruth Harvey, who despite being a single parent, successfully raised my brother and me amidstvarious obstacles. Making the transition to college provides its own set of challenges, particularly for thosethat aspire to be the first to complete a4-year degree program within their family. The Alma Harvey Hope Scholarship is intended to assiststudents that find themselves faced with similar challenges.
The top aware for the Alma Harvey Hope Scholarship award is $4,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a graduating senior at John Tyler High School
  • Must rank in top 20thpercentile of class
  • Aspirations of becoming a first-generation college graduate (parents have not completed4-year degree)
  • Must be accepted into 4-year university
  • Although not requisite, added consideration will go to applicants with greater financial need

Required Documents (submitted by 4/23):

  • This application completed and signed
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • 600-word essay expressing your goals and aspirations
  • High school transcript
  • Acceptance letter from 4-year university (can be sent at later date)
