TRAINING / LEARNING RECORD
Overview
This section of the folder will provide you with a record of training in support of your professional development, and should include the details of all vocational training courses undertaken. You should also record any briefings you attended to update you on changes to legislation, standards, new technology and processes.
Details of courses completed prior to the issue of the logbook should be included and verified where possible.
The training record can be used to support work authorisation procedures and competence assessments, particularly if the record includes details of the equipment types to which the training refers.
If training is being used as evidence of continuing professional development, reference can also be made in the CPD section indicating briefly what you learnt
Completing the Training / Learning Record form
Enter your name and IRSE Licence number on each page, and consecutively number the pages within the section. Completed pages are to be retained as part of your record of continuing professional development.
Enter the dates of the training course in the column ‘Dates From/To:’
Enter the training provider’s name and address and the location where the course was held, in the column ‘Training Provider’
Enter the training course name and subjects, in the ‘Description of Course & Result’ column (you should also record the equipment types on which you were trained if appropriate).
Ask your instructor, supervisor or line manager to verify the entry in the record by signing the verification column. The person verifying the entry should include his or her name, signature, and job title. Where the signatory is a licence holder then their licence number should also be included, they should also complete the witness status list showing contact details etc
You may use the column marked “Comments” to record your assessment of the training, any follow-up action undertaken, or make a cross reference to an appropriate licence category or an event in your CPD record or associated development action plan.
The form needs to be verified since it is a requirement that it is sent to the IRSE with each application, renewal or surveillance, it is not sufficient to just say “see certificates in logbook” where there is no verification signature
