Objectives:

1. 6.01: Demonstrate an understanding of conventional written and spoken expression by: employing varying sentence structures (e.g., inversion, introductory phrases) and sentence types (e.g., simple, compound, complex, compound-complex); analyzing authors' choice of words, sentence structure, and use of language; using word recognition strategies to understand vocabulary and exact word choice (Greek, Latin roots and affixes, analogies, idioms, denotation, connotation).

2. Goal 5: The learner will demonstrate understanding of selected world literature through interpretation and analysis.

Activities:
1. Wordly Wise - Introduce new word list and complete Understanding Meanings (Lesson 13)
2. Begin reading Cyrano de Bergerac, Act IV and fill in the Active Response worksheet as we read.
Tuesday, May 3

1. Wordly Wise - Complete Using Words and Word Study (Lesson 13)
2. Finish reading Act IV of Cyrano and finish the active response worksheet.
3. Answer questions 1-5 on the Response worksheet.
Wednesday, May 4

Objectives:

1. 6.01: Demonstrate an understanding of conventional written and spoken expression by: employing varying sentence structures (e.g., inversion, introductory phrases) and sentence types (e.g., simple, compound, complex, compound-complex); analyzing authors' choice of words, sentence structure, and use of language; using word recognition strategies to understand vocabulary and exact word choice (Greek, Latin roots and affixes, analogies, idioms, denotation, connotation).

2. Goal 5: The learner will demonstrate understanding of selected world literature through interpretation and analysis.

Activities:
1. Wordly Wise - Computer practice using Quizlet, Quia, and Wordly Wise websites
2. Look over this website for a review of Act IV of Cyrano.
3. Complete the writing activity using Microsoft Word. (I will add the document before Wednesday's class.)
Thursday, May 5

Objectives:

2. Introduce Act V of Cyrano and choose parts.
3. Begin reading Act V and fill in the Active Response sheet as we read.

3. Discuss our answers to the Reponse worksheet.
