Job Description Overview: The SCCS Administrator/Principal is responsible for managing all day-to-day operational aspects of the school while serving as the Spiritual Leader. He or she must administer and supervise St. Cloud Christian School (SCCS) in accordance with God’s Word and the philosophy, policies, bylaws, and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors. The Administrator shall coordinate and execute all duties necessary for the functions of accounting, human resource management, and law compliance in related areas and will execute the vision and strategic plan of the organization. As the spiritual and academic leader of SCCS, he or she must collaborate with stakeholders in a knowledgeable and confident manner to make determinations with respect and humility, desiring to bring honor and glory to God in all things.

I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Contracted by: The St. Cloud Christian School Board of Directors; Full-time salaried position,

12 month contract; each contract shall be for one year duration with annual renewal upon successful completion of an evaluation by the Board of Directors.

Responsible to: The SCCS Board of Directors

Supervises: The total operation of the school including students, parents, facilities,

faculty, staff, volunteers, etc.

II. QUALIFICATIONS

A. Educational

1.  Shall be a college graduate from an institution recognized by Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) with a minimum of a Master’s Degree.

2.  Shall have a current state administrative certificate, ACSI certification, or be certifiable.

3.  Degree may include graduate training in administration, and curriculum development, business and management.

4.  Shall be competent in the supervision of the teaching/learning process.

5.  Other qualifications may be added by the Board as deemed appropriate.

6.  Exceptions because of unique areas of expertise will be evaluated by the Board at the time of application.

B. Spiritual Leadership

1.  Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior. (John 3:3; 1 Peter 1:23)

2. A Pastor’s heart for service; compassionate to those expressing need; has a passion for students reaching their full potential and looks for ways to reach more students who may require more services.

3. Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards. (Luke 6:40) Have evidence of a mature Christian faith; reflect the purpose of SCCS by honoring Christ throughout each day, in every activity. His or her faith will manifest in Christ-like attitude and behavior, emotional maturity, and wisdom to develop a wholesome spiritual and emotional atmosphere characteristic of a God-centered Christian School.

4. Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian School Philosophy.

Be a Christian role model (1 Timothy 4:12), in attitude, speech, and actions towards others; both in and out of school, to all. This includes the development of the Fruits of the Spirit in life (Galatians 5:22-23), and refraining from engaging in personal areas of liberty in situations where an offense may be created within the Body of Christ. (I Cor. 8:9; Eph. 5:18; Col. 3:17; Titus 2:7-8; I Thess. 5:22-23; and James 3:17-18).

5.  Be a member in good standing at a local, evangelical church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.

6.  Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ.

7.  Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

8.  Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist “partner with” them in that task.

9.  Have evidence of Biblically sound problem solving skills.

C. Personal

1.  Be an Excellent Communicator: Make every effort to live at peace and to resolve disputes with other Christians in private or within the Christian community in conformity with the biblical teachings of 1 Corinthians 6:1-8; Mathew 5:23-24; Matthew 18:15-17 and be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. 5.  Work with the Board to help develop and maintain both a vision, as well as long- and short-range goals for school development.

7.  Ensure the existence and implementation of an academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular program and activities founded on Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education are in place across the curriculum.

8.  Oversee resources and opportunities for spiritual development for both staff and students.

9.  Motivate staff to grow in their faith and help them see their self-worth in Christ.

10.  Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ throughout each day, in every activity.

13.  Must have a balance of tact, diplomacy, and social awareness.

F. Professional Development

III. Responsibilities

A. TOTAL PROGRAM: He or she shall provide supervision for the total operation of the school.

1. Write and/or revise Teacher Contracts, Teacher Handbooks, Parent/Student Handbooks, Athletic Handbook,

and consult on Board Policy Manual.

2. Responsible for compliance with all regulatory agencies.

3. Plan, with assistance of staff and faculty, the joint all-school calendar and functions.

4. Manage all human resources.

B. SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: He or She is responsible for a program of supervision and evaluation of all employees in the performance of their duties, utilizing the administrative team to supervise their areas. He/She is also responsible for recommending the dismissal of staff members to the Board.

1.  Encourages educational growth through teacher certification with the State or ACSI and the

pursuing of graduate courses in their appropriate fields.

2.  Provides up to date job descriptions for each position on the staff.

3.  Set clear and consistent work schedules and job descriptions for staff.

4. Oversees the effective supervision of programs and personnel; Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with

conflict with staff, students, or parents.

5. Encourages continual spiritual growth of each staff member by example and by counsel.

6. Develop and cultivate an environment of teamwork; unity and collaboration between administration and

teachers. Employ Servant-Leader qualities to promote a positive personnel climate; patient and understanding

listener. Ensure proper evaluation of staff, according to Board policy, including resolving staff conflicts,

conducting teacher observations, teacher evaluations, and following disciplinary measures in accordance with

Board policy.

C. PROCUREMENT OF PERSONNEL: He/She interviews, evaluates, and recommends candidates to be hired.

1. Recommends the creation or elimination of staff positions to Board.

2. Oversee the notification of staff openings to the appropriate agencies (i.e. college placement services, local

churches, Christian employment agencies, etc.).

3. Oversee the hiring of all non-administrative staff.

4. May suspend any support personnel for just cause, including violation of employment agreement,

insubordination, incompetence, and/or continued failure to comply with Board policy or administrative

rules and regulations.

5. May authorize, supervise, and terminate volunteer positions of service in curricular and/or non-curricular

areas.

6. Communicates the philosophy and practice of Christian education among new and existing employees.

D. CURRICULUM: He/She has the major responsibility for the implementation and coordination of the

curriculum.

1. Develops and implements the school curriculum with the assistance of the faculty.

2. Over-see’s the documentation of student achievement (i.e. test scores, etc. )

3. Approves all textbooks and supplementary materials.

4. Recommends to the Board when major curriculum changes are appropriate.

5. Scope and sequence of each subject area will be developed and revised as necessary.

6. Oversees the ordering of textbooks.

E. STUDENT ADMISSION: He/She shall oversee the admissions process.

1. Shall supervise the work of the Admissions Coordinator.

2. Shall conduct family interviews.

F. SCHOOL BOARD: He/She is responsible to interpret the school operation to the Board of Directors and

implement Board action with school personnel in a positive, respectful manner.

1. Shall submit an administrator report at every regularly scheduled Board meeting on the status of the school,

Its’ achievements, and area needing improvement. Facilitate Board agenda setting, prepare required reports, and

Attend all board meetings.

2. Facilitate decision-making by providing information about the school and its function.

3. Keep the Board abreast of finances, enrollment, personnel, curriculum, and accreditation.

4. Recommend policies for further development of the school.

5. Administer the policies established by the St. Cloud Christian School Board of Directors.

G. BUDGET: He/She shall oversee the preparation of an annual budget for approval by the Board.

1. Works with teachers, department heads, and administrators in developing budget expense projections.

2. Develops enrollment projections for the entire school.

3. Works with the Finance Committee and Director of Finance in the development of possible tuition models.

4. Works with the Finance Committee to develop the draft budget to present to the full Board.

5. Supervise the daily operation of the school and disbursement of the approved annual budget.

H. LONG-RANGE PLANNING: He/She shall oversee developmental programs in curriculum, staff, building, and

equipment as part of a long-range plan for the total school.

1. Estimate costs of such programs and suggests possible means of financing.

2. Involve parents, educational consultants, and community people in the planning process.

3. Keep abreast of current research being done in the field of education.

4. Be cognizant of legal requirements upon private schools by local, county, state, and federal agencies.

J. COMMENCEMENT – He/She shall work with the high school Faculty and senior class advisors in planning

the commencement program.

1. Approve the baccalaureate and commencement speakers.

2. Award diplomas to graduates.

3. Give any assistance needed in planning and supervising the commencement exercises.

K. PHYSICAL PLANT – He/She is responsible for the creation of an environment conducive to good education.

1. Recommends to the Board with respect to major repairs or new facilities needed.

2. Provides a safe environment for students and staff.

L. STAFF DEVELOPMENT: Shall plan, coordinate, encourage and ensure funding opportunities for Development.

1. Involve staff and faculty in formulating recommendations, policies, and budget.

2. Facilitates opportunities for the professional improvement of the faculty and staff.

M. PUBLIC RELATIONS – He/She will work closely with the Board and Development Coordinator, to produce an

effective program of interpreting the school to the public. The responsibilities will fall into three areas:

1. Image:

a. Warrior Pride Quarterly Newsletter – Oversee the development of each publication.

b. Community Involvement – Is involved in church and community events.

c. Any other ways to promote the school and raise the communities level of awareness.

2. Fund Raising:

a. Takes an active role in support and encouragement of these programs through effective public relations.

b. Shall have effective follow-up, i.e. writing letters of acknowledgment for gifts to the school.
