POSITION DESCRIPTION: OUTREACH SITE COORDINATOR

1.00 GENERAL STATEMENT

1.01 Position Scope

a.  The Outreach Site Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the educational program at the assigned outreach site and for assuring that the program is directed toward the fulfillment of the mission and philosophy of the college.

b.  The Outreach Site Coordinator participates in the formation of general college policies by referring items to the Director of Outreach Program Development.

2.00 SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

2.01  Position Function and Category

a.  Reporting Relationship: Director of Outreach Program Development

b.  Function/Category of Position: Academic/Management and Supervisory

c.  Terms of Employment: Annual approval

d.  Salary Category: Supplemental

2.02  Supervision

a.  Supervision Received: The Outreach Site Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Outreach Program Development.

b.  Supervision Exercised: None. The Outreach Site Coordinator serves as liaison between the administration and/or adjunct instructors, and the Director of Outreach Program Development.

2.03  Key Areas of Responsibility

a.  Represent Allen County Community College to the local community.

b.  Identify potential courses to be offered locally and obtain approval with the Director of Outreach Program Development.

c.  Advise the Director of Outreach Program Development in recruitment of instructors.

d.  Schedule and conduct enrollment at the local attendance center.

e.  Distribute books and materials to instructors and students.

f.  Collect rental books and instructor’s materials at the end of each course for return to the Dean of Outreach Education.

g.  Attend coordinator meetings to review enrollment procedures and discuss common administrative and educational concerns.

h.  Advise the Director of Outreach Program Development of issues and serve as local contact for resolution of such issues.

i.  Advise students who seek occupational/academic information or connect student to appropriate college staff.

j.  Conduct an orientation/information session with each instructor concerning conduct of class, room assignment, keys, local rules, etc., prior to the first class session.

k.  Assist instructors with the logistics at the beginning of each semester.

l.  Be available to instructors as necessary.

m.  Coordinate with local school districts in facilitating the outreach program through local policies and procedures.

n.  Communicate educational needs of the local community to the Director of Outreach Program Development.

o.  Collect current syllabi from instructors before first class and furnish to the Dean of Outreach Education.

p.  Support efforts to improve outreach services, i.e., enrollment, advisement, library resources, financial aid, and student support services.

q.  Provide direction to instructors in managing classroom responsibilities and in making productive use of class time.

r.  Encourage instructors to clarify expectations for student conduct, homework, and assessment.

s.  Follow policy and procedures as stated in the Outreach Site Coordinator Handbook.
