Keeping score for an Orco Telco Doubles Match…….

First……each golfer is still competing as an individual, in individual stroke play, while competing with their partner in Doubles competition. So, all shots and putts are played out completely and recorded accordingly on the official scorecard.

For the Match………we will use the following for some examples on scorekeeping.

Golfer A1 is a 9 handicap

Golfer A2 is a 22 handicap

Golfer B1 is a 14 handicap

Golfer B2 is a 28 handicap

  • All golfers play off the lowest handicap in the foursome.
  • So in our example, Golfer A1 is a zero for the match, and will get no strokes. Golfer A2 will get strokes on the 13 toughest holes, Golfer B1 will get strokes on the 5 toughest and golfer B2 will get a stroke on every hole with 2 strokes on the #1 handicap hole.
  • There are two points possible on every hole.
  • On each hole, the lowest team score for Team A plays the lowest team score for Team B.

Now, some examples……

  • Par 3………#4 handicap hole……
  • Golfer A1 has a 3……gets no strokes for a Net 3
  • Golfer A2 has a 6……gets a stroke for a Net 5
  • Golfer B1 has a 5……gets no strokes for a Net 5
  • Golfer B2 has a 3……gets a stroke for a Net 2
  • The two low scores are A1 and B2……..B2 wins a point
  • The two high scores are A2 and B1…….they push……no points
  • Team B wins one point on the hole and is up one
  • Next Hole………Par 5…………#1 handicap hole……
  • Golfer A1 has a 5……gets no strokes for a Net 5
  • Golfer A2 has a 4……gets a stroke for a Net 3
  • Golfer B1 has a 7……gets a stroke for a Net 6
  • Golfer B2 has a 6……gets two strokes for a Net 4
  • The two low scores are A2 and B2……..A2 wins a point
  • The two high scores are A1 and B1…….A1 wins a point
  • Team A wins two points on the hole and is now up one (2 minus the 1 above)

Hope this helps, if not, ask any board member or long time member and we can walk through it.
