This is not a complete list of activities that are acceptable. If you are or will be participating in an activity that promotes professionalism as a student nurse, consult the faculty teaching your course for their approval.
ACTIVITY POINTS
* Join the National Student Nurses= Association (NSNA)/ANA or other professional organization 1
* Attend a meeting of a professional nursing organization, at least one hour in length 1
or the whole meeting (whichever is longest)
* Participate in an SNA fundraiser (selling for one hour at a bake sale will count) 1
* Participate in an SNA charity event (i.e. Diabetes walk-a-thon) 1
* Participate on a William Paterson University Nursing Department committee 2
* Be a class representative to WPSNA (cannot be combined with attending SNA meetings) 2
* Attend a professional nursing conference (1 hr of conference = 1 point) varies
* Subscribe to a professional nursing journal 1
* Use a class assignment (i.e. Teaching-Learning project) in the community setting 1
(i.e. Health fair, Senior Citizen meeting, As a Poster Presentation at a nursing conference)
* Volunteer at a health related activity in the community. (Hospital volunteer, ambulance corp, 1-2

* Participate in a research activity (not class assignment) (participate in a study, 1
present at a conference, poster session presentation)
* Participate in a Health organizations fundraiser (i.e. Diabetes walk, March of Dimes walk, etc) 1-2
* Write an article dealing with nursing or a health related subject that gets published in the 1-2
SNA nurses notes or a Professional Nursing journal.
