VA CELEBRATES NATIONAL RESEARCH WEEK MAY 15
SACRAMENTO – The Department of Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System will celebrate National VA Research Week May 13-17, 2013, at the Sacramento VA Medical Center. As a part of the nationwide observance, the Sacramento VA Medical Center will conduct a Research Day Wednesday, May 15, 9 a.m. at 10535 Hospital Way, Mather, Building 650.
The theme of this year’s event is “VA Research Inspires” and NCHCS wants to present to our Veterans, their families and the community how VA research efforts are benefiting them and why becoming a research volunteer is so important. Some highlights include; advances in managing chronic neuropathic pain, wound healing and tissue repair, novel treatments and rehabilitation techniques for those with brain injury, new findings and treatments of different cancers, including prostate cancer and recent findings for treatments of inflammatory immune syndromes.
The Northern California Health Care System Research Department will highlight its mission to improve clinical care of medical issues that especially apply to veterans through supporting state of the art research and development. A series of short talks by local VA scientists will begin following opening remarks by the Interim Acting Director at 9 a.m. at the Sacramento VA Medical Center Auditorium. There will be time for questions and to mingle with researchers over a light lunch at noon.
Veterans, the general public and health care providers are invited to attend the event to discover how VA Research advances care. Video conferencing of this event will be available at each site within Northern California Health Care System.
